Child installed payable app, how do you cancel?

Advice please. Son-in-law discovered a charge on bank card for just under £30. Contacted bank, they stopped card and reissued a new one. The charge has appeared again.
It transpires their daughter downloaded an app, free for five days, didn't like it and dragged to bin, otherwise it would have been seen on screen.
What needs to be done please?. He is of the opinion he should cancel his goole play account. I don't share that opinion as in my view, the charge will continue and be held against him.
I'm sure I've read about this many times before, so there must be solution.

If he goes into the Google play store on the phone in question and clicks on the top left hand menu bar, it should display a 'subscriptions' option, which I suspect will dispay the details of the charge and allow cancellation even though the app itself has been deleted.

Many thanks for that, I've copied and sent it to him quickly.p00hsticks said:If he goes into the Google play store on the phone in question and clicks on the top left hand menu bar, it should display a 'subscriptions' option, which I suspect will dispay the details of the charge and allow cancellation even though the app itself has been deleted.0 -
Get them to read through the following guide https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/6209547?hl=en-GB on parental controls for Google Play, to stop this happening in the future.1

He has clicked on subscriptions and nothing shows up, unsure of our next move.p00hsticks said:If he goes into the Google play store on the phone in question and clicks on the top left hand menu bar, it should display a 'subscriptions' option, which I suspect will dispay the details of the charge and allow cancellation even though the app itself has been deleted.0 -
Update. They have found the app, I've looked on Google play, then user reviews and everyone is slating it. Question is, what to do next.

A child cannot legally use a bank card to enter into a contract so any contract is invalid. Ask your bank to chargeback and refund.2

Good way to get your account closed.3

Thanks jsmith9 and unforseen. Point taken, but the worry now is, how to prevent the "app people" taking further monthly payments.
In my opinion, an app designed to attract children to see what they might look like as they get older with a monthly fee of £28, is a con. We all know that exceptionally good photographic apps can be bought for under £10 as a "one-off" payment.0 -

This is no different a situation to when a parent loads a child's PS4/XBox account up with their card details, the child racks up a massive bill (by accident or otherwise) and then the parent runs off to a tabloid somewhere to complain its everybody else's fault but theirs - the situation wouldn't have occurred if you hadn't loaded your card details. You do not need payment details of any kind to have or use a Play Store account.5

you treat it in the same way as any unauthorised payments on your account. contact the bank and get them refunded.0
