Neighbours walking across bottom of drive

fenwick458 said:well there you have it. so it seems you have 3 choices,
1. move your gates right to the boundary which will cost you money (and will probably cause more problems than it solves, your neighbors will just retaliate in some other way)
2. erect some Vietcong style booby traps...?
3. just ignore them!Whilst I know this is tongue in cheek, and your 3rd suggestion is by far the best solution my mind was sent wandering.....I would never condone causing harm, however some form of harmless behaviour modification could provide the satisfaction the OP craves. My best idea so far (though still not really as good as ignoring them) would be to take out 50cm x 50cm of paving directly in front of each gate post, then plant a couple of nice roses, these roses would then need liberal fertilisation with manure. The neighbour can then choose between walking through manure, going round the OPs land, or taking a very illogical route that both avoids the manure and uses the OPs land. For the OP to 'win' (though I don't think there are going to be any winners) the roses need to be planted under the guise of being for their own intrinsic value and that it had never occurred to the OP that this action would in any way inconvenience anyone else.

I think the OP should turn that part of his driveway into a rockery. That'll stop the neighbour walking on it. It may make getting the car out a bit of a challenge, but you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.Sorted. A rockery entrance and a 4x4.2 -
If they continue to play football against the gates I'd put a sign up saying 'No Ball Games', that should do the trick, if it was me playing football I'd certainly think twice0

I'm assuming, then, that you are normal?

You sound like the neighbour from hell tbh and without the others sides POV on the subject then I'm with them.
From what I gather your fence is 100CM inside your drive leaving this 100cm open to the public passing your house and you are actually complaining about people actually walking past you house going about their normal business? This is a problem you can easily address by moving you fence 100cm to the front of your drive, without doing that then its never going to stop as it's seen by them as petty which it is.0 -

Absolutely none, do you hear?2 -
Too harsh, I think, Bris.Yes it seems as tho' the OP might now be too sensitive about it, but based on what we've been told the neighb is being deliberately antagonistic - and has been even aggressive. The OP is now looking for a way to exclude them from that area completely. That might not be seen as 'reasonable' under normal circumstances, but it is understandable when the neighb is an 'ole.1

If its the shortest route between the neighbour's House and his garage (without looking at the start of this thread, I think that is what the route is used for) then it's not antagonistic to use it, rather it's common sense.
Without a plan/picture we are all just guessing.2 -
I would have thought that it's quite difficult to walk along a strip of path only 50cm wide next to a wall or gates without brushing up against it. I'm quite tall and slim and would need more width of pavement to walk along comfortablyLove living in a village in the country side0

I'm quite tall and slim and would need more width of pavement to walk along comfortablyI'm short and rather plumper than I'd like, but I'd guess at least half of me could fit annoyingly on a 600mm paving slab without my coat brushing against those wonderful gates, but I think this thread has probably run its course now. After all, we have major financial and medical catastrophes heading towards us like a steam train, so having time to quibble over wear and tear by foot traffic on a few street pavers will probably a luxury few of us can afford in the near future!
