Oil Boiler Insurance

Just about every company on this site only cover gas fuelled boilers.
I understand the theory of self insurance, and this would be a good example of where it might work, however my main concern is that living in a rural area, it is VERY hard to find someone to come out in an emergency. I feel that having a boiler cover policy will mean that the insurance company will have the bother of trying to get someone here.
Any recommendations please ?

Your oil boiler needs an Annual Service and it is not just a visual check that all is well - Over a year the very finely calibrated injection nozzle suffers wear which increases oil consumption and creates black smoke from the flue. The service also includes cleaning all the filters in the oil supply pipesYou can't be the only oil user in your area, so ask around for the name of the local service Co.0

Does anybody have a recommendation for Oil boiler insurance - specifically for emergency cover/call out ?
Do you really need it? I used to have it on our gas boiler in our old property but that was because it was a potterton boiler that blew its circuit board every year or two (a known fault that resulted in multiple upgrades to the circuit board over the years). It was cheaper to be on a service/repair contract once we couldn't get potterton to replace it free of charge any more. However, we dont have a contract for our oil boiler.
We are rural too but most rural areas have local independents that cover the area.
Our boiler failed a few weeks before Christmas on a Sunday. A local independent was at ours within the hour (local as in what counts for local in a rural area). I doubt a contract would have given us that level of service.
So, are you really sure that you are that remote that there are no independents that cover your area?
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I second getting to know a good local engineer. You should be getting the boiler serviced annually as dogshome says above, and as a regular customer a decent independant will prioritise you when you have a breakdown.0

If you are still stuck finding an Oil Boiler Engineer, pop "OFTEC boiler engineers" followed by your County into your search engine
