Sports direct won’t exchange gift without receipt, what are my rights

    Now if only Sports Direct would give buyers a Gift Receipt so the gift receiver could take things back to exchange ........ oh, wait a minute - they do if asked !

    It's possible the OP's friend/relative would have misplaced that too.
  • This thread must be a wind-up.  Who would buy a gift for someone - the kind of gift which might need to be changed if it's not the right size - paying by cash and not keeping the receipt?

    Some shops used to exchange/refund  without a receipt but shoplifters were taking stuff they had stolen back to get it exchanged or money back. So they started asking for a receipt to prove the goods had been bought , not stolen.
