@Cherryfudge in last year's thread you said "I have an increasing stash of nearly-worn-out things that either need to go into landfill (Nooooo!) or find some new purpose, so maybe I need a resolution to turn a worn out garment into something constructive?"
Our local Council tip has a bay for textile rags which then go to be recycled in various ways, keeping them out of landfill - we asked how knackered an item could be and they said literally anything, so then we asked if they wanted ends of threads, yarn, trimmings from sewing and they cheerfully said yes! So now I have empty (cleaned!) little golden-syrup tins beside my sewing machine to pop thread-ends, seam-trimmings, etc., into, no matter how tiny...
Worth investigating your local tip?2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far

Is the stove on in the Hall? And the tea-urn? Ooooh, lovely! I thought I might give you all a giggle by showing off my elegant outfit this morning... I've been making OH a pair of PJ bottoms from an old flannellette sheet (as you do!) and mending DD2's shop-bought bottoms too - those lasted about 3 months before ripping at the derrière! - on my beloved treadled Jones, which lives out in our rather icy conservatory. Battle dress was called for! So on went the chopped-up felted wool jumper, now appearing as fingerless gloves, short "skirt" & long leg-warmers. Which certainly made OH laugh!

My sister has it now - she's by far the more proficient of us.

@thriftwizard, I love that outfit!
We're so lazy this morning we're basically spending the day in bed... I got up a bit earlier to do some bits and came back to sit up in bed reading, and My Intended has just got up to go and have a shower but I suspect he'll come back to bed to browse online later too... the sitting-room is north-facing and chilly, and the bedroom is south-facing and cosy...
Also, I did an entire week's housework yesterday and am about to do our second Xmas Dinner in a few hours' time, so I rather feel like staying in bed!the good thing is that when we do a roast dinner, we really do both do all the work together, so it's not a great chore for me, hurrah - and I've instituted a new custom, this year's first, after slogging through all the washing-up and pan-scouring on Boxing Day, that the day after we both do a roast dinner together, we both clear up after it!

As soon as we're packed and the roads are thawed, we're headed out for "camping" this weekend - by which I mean parking the camper in my parents' yard. Our cellular internet is completely down - I think when they redid things for the other house on the property, they canceled the billing on this one as well somehow. Argh. I do wish we could get proper internet where we are. The house literally next door has cable, but they won't run it to ours until they're done with the area they're focusing on.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.9

Today is a lazy day. I’m vaguely watching Tea With Mussolini while pottering around this afternoon. It’s quite a story.

I dreamt last night that my office decided that we weren't allowed electric heaters in our offices anymore. I told them that I'd work out 2 months' notice from home so they had time to find someone new and train them!2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.7
