Welcome @DrCarrie. Please pull up a chair, grab a cuppa and join us.
@Liverpool_Anne separates are your best friend, as are shoulder pads if it's your top-half that's the smaller size. They will make your too-large jackets/tops sit better. (Shoulder pads are coupon free.)
@Cherryfudge - did you mention Y@k Trax in an earlier post regarding running in snow/ice? Please tell me more about them. I had a quick look on Amaz0n and am now a bit confused. Which ones do you have? What is a good price to pay for them?

Mine are a basic grid of springs that fit round the soles of shoes, trainers or boots with some sort of elasticity that keeps them in place. So I'm sorry to say I can't give recommendations on the 'real thing', just on the principle. They certainly made me feel more secure and I should get them out for tomorrow morning as the road to work is icy.
I don't remember what I paid, either, but it was in the region of £5 a few years ago. Being metal they will probably last a few years and you only need one pair.Fashion on the Ration challenge: 20.5 coupons used in 2020. 62.5 used in 2021. 94.5 remaining as of 21/3/22Toiletries used up 27/188.6 -
Hi Pip, separates are usually the way I go but unfortunately my top is bigger than my bottom, I tend not to wear very fitted tops relying on basic t shirts with a jumper or cardigan depending on the weather, and I wear semi fitted trousers or jeans as my job means I can be required to do some active stuff like tai chi or yoga as well as woodwork and some elements of personal care. I find these clothes are both comfortable and practical if not particularly flattering, but I don't get paid to look good lol, though I do brush up well when I need to, as my nephew said at my nieces wedding lol. I had a lovely sky blue wrinkled silk trouser suit with silver ballet pumps and handbag. The shoes and bag I still have but the suit has been relegated to the mending bag as last time I wore it, at another wedding in Germany I unpacked it from my bag to discover the fabric had split up one of the front panels of the jacket. I managed to rescue it by using a piece of cellotape on the inside which held it together invisibly for the day but is not a long term solution. I have kept it in the hope of finding a way to salvage it eventually, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.6

Pip - I love your little description of the village/hamlets and the community within. I can advise that the haberdashery's refurbishment is progressing well and should be open very soon.
I would really like to join in again this year. Its really making me think about waste now and I think being part of this challenge will help me keep the focus.

I’ve had tidy out of my drawers and as long as i stick to my weight loss goals all I need just now is some underwear. I would like a pair of jeans (my gran gave me money at Christmas to buy some clothes) but they’re not a necessity so I’ll not bother just now. Thankfully I can’t go to the shops just for a look at the moment!
Need to do a quick tidy of the kids stuff but there should be nothing they need anytime soon.
Hope everyone has a lovely New Year xx8 -
Hi,everyone, and Happy New Year! I'm in again, but I am carrying over 21 coupons from last year.I'm not sure what I will need this year. I got some new jeans for my birthday from my OH, and I've inherited an almost brand-new zip up hoodie from him after he bought himself another one in a larger size. Boy is it warm! I've also replenished the bran and knicker drawer late last year. I might have to consider some new socks, though, as some of mine are looking very tatty.I could do with loosing some weight though (thank you, Lockdown). I'm starting a temporary job next week, I think (admin work for the vaccination clinics) and I'm just hoping what work wear I've still got still fits!

@Liverpool_Anne could you use some of that fusible interfacing to hold it together and stop it fraying, and then perhaps some invisible stitches to keep it in place? I’m assuming that the silk has probably frayed and that has caused the split.
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.7
