Hmm...would they have been able to get much chocolate, as it would have been imported?2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.7

Chocolate came under 'sweets', so 12oz every 4 weeks, which is not very much if you ask me!!!
@TwibbleDee - it was imported but supplies of basic chocolate continued throughout the war - I think it was viewed as a morale thing. You couldn't get anything fancy, just small bars of plain chocolate.
I only discovered 3 years back that my 20-something nieces don't know what "plain chocolate" is, as they only know "dark chocolate" as a term! When asked about present-preferences, they said "oh just plain chocolate, nothing with fruit or nuts or spices..." and gave examples whcih were milk chocolate! There was a lovely bit of confusion with me and my parents knowing "plain chocolate" to mean dark chocolate that is not milk choc or white choc, and the girls using it to mean "milk chocolate without additional flavourings"!
Originally "chocolate" was always dark, like Bournville (only without the wretched carcinogenic palm-oils, grrr), and so the distinction was between that standard stuff, the plain chocolate, and the stuff with lots of milk added to make it sweeter and richer, ie milk chocolate!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I gave up trying to reconcile my coupons ages ago, not really sorry, it has been a ghastly year, second one running now, I will still need to buy underpinnings, but I have put on a bit of weight which needs to be shifted, reluctant to buy anything next size up, need to buckle down to it in the new year.
I am all for a shiny new thread and just carrying 1 year's spare coupons over, might have to dip out of the "bit of a do" as nothing fits and I don't have any intact silk stockings left! The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)7 -
@maddiemay, don't you try skiving out of the Awards Ceremony - here, you can have this packet of gravy browning and I'll lend you my eyebrow-pencil...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Laura_Elsewhere - much appreciated and gladly accepted, I had better start canvassing my friends to see who might have a suitable (or any) frock that I might borrow. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)6

I have spent 0 coupons 66 coupons remaining.
I did try and spend some on a few occasions throughout the year but nothing new I ordered fitted. I did buy a couple of pairs of trousers in the charity shop, but they are coupon free. Now I have decided I want to lose weight and I am making progress in the right direction I am reluctant to invest money and coupons in clothes that will be much too big before the end of 2022 fingers crossed. So instead I have decided to make do with what I have to got, except a new bra which I am hoping to buy before the end of January.
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

My goodness, I could easily cope on 3 pints of milk and my meat ration today wouldn’t be very different but butter (I don’t use margarine), and cheese … and I would struggle with the sugar ration because I love baking. And one egg a week 😱 - however I kept my own hens until recently, so as long as I could feed them, they’d feed me so to speak.Interesting point about chocolate @Laura_Elsewhere, I’d never thought about it. I need to check my points but I’m pretty sure I am on a low total this year. Like you, @Baileys_Babe I am trying (not very successfully) to lose weight, not to buy new clothes but so I can fit into the ones I’ve got which are getting tighter by the day!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.6
