@florianatwobob, so very true about black yarn!

I have nearly finished the elephants on the baby blanket but I went wrong three rows back so I'm going to have to tink it. After that it's endless boring rows of plain white, a grey edging and with any luck the blanket will be done while the baby is still small enough to fit underneath it.

I must remember to weigh/photograph my stash as I want to find a way to do @Laura_Elsewhere's reverse coupon challenge and work my way through at least some of it.

See, this is why I love he crochet-lacework I do, and the charts/diagrams I work form instead of baffling written patterns - no problem counting because you can see exactly what you're doing! 

Much simpler!  

Well, it is to me, anyway... 

And I can use hundred-year-old patterns for making myself modern camisole-yokes!

I'm the same, with knitting pattern charts.  Once you learn how to read your knitting (or crochet), it is much easier to look at chart, work out where you are and then continue.  I have gone very wrong with written-only patterns and not realised until several inches later because you can't see what they expect the knitting to look like.

Another yes please to a new thread here, and some shiny awards to finish this one with a bang. 

I don't have a view on the rolling over of coupons from 2020 or even 2019, but I'd like to roll over what remains of this year into 2022. 

I have 27 coupons left and doubt I'll spend them by the 31st as I've got all my Christmas presents in now (its a good thing we don't have soap coupons btw. One small box of truffles was about three weeks' coupons, some fancy tea one week's, and those would be doable really, I think, if you cared enough to buy someone anything at all, but my 550gm fancy bubbles for my Dad would have cost - if my information and calculations are correct - 39 coupons. You got four a month, so that would be impossible).

I'm following my first-ever chart and I agree - it's clear when I'm wrong and easier to put right (unless I'm so completely covered in ends of intarsia threads that I can't actually see anything and daren't move in case I knock my coffee onto the knitting - yes, I have much to learn).

You're braver than I - intarsia is so legendarily complex to get right (and I know from the pics you posted that you *do* get it right) that I've pretty well left it entirely alone and veer away from the suggestion because I know it's demanding! 

Another useful thing about crochet charts is that I can cheerfully use patterns from Russia, China, Korea, Japan, Span, Portugal, Germany, France, you name it, everywhere except the English-speaking world which insists on writing impenetrable chunks of text instead, with half using the same few terms to mean A, B and C, and half using it to mean B, C and D...!

Lastly.... or maybe this was firstly? New thread - yes.... I don't know about anyone else but I do find the 'established' threads a better more difficult to infiltrate (if that's the right turn) and we don't want out of towners/evacuees left out in the cold. I promise to find the new years thread in the daylight when I can see a bit better LOL

Good point, @CAFCGirl - all evacuees are definitely welcome here in Much Mending on the Borrow! 

I'm just about to start baking - if anyone's around this afternoon, I could do with some help putting the mince pies and cheese savoury nibbles into the tins....
