Well done with your jumper. It will be good to see it when you’re finished
Thank you re jumper. My friends call it 'the ninetieth birthday present' (for DH) because it's taken me so long. Now closer to three weeks' work left, not thirty years.PipneyJane said:@Cherryfudge - it's crochet. To get the effect of the tendons, you can do a couple of things:-- Instead of crocheting through the loops at the top of a stitch, you crochet around the stem of it instead, so that the loops stand proud of the fabric. Or
- Crochet the main fabric. When it is finished, work a line of slip-stitches down it, so that they attach at right angles to the main fabric.
I really need to avoid this thread sometimes!!
It can send me off on wonderful potential projects when I need to build new skills gradually and consolidate what I've already tried. To be fair quite a lot of consolidation has been happening and I'm not ready for some of the 'wonderful ifs' that call my name, despite having bookmarked a few.
I'm not leaving; you're all far too interesting and besides, no one else talks in coupons and the tub of flowers by my Mendings door is still flowering bravely.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Speaking of which, I am trying to decide what my next project will be. I have 10 balls (960m) of Sublime "Phoebe" in colourway 464, which has been lurking in the bottom of the stash for far too long. I am tempted to do another Owl's sweater, mainly because it's easy, fast, and I have enough yarn, but part of me wants to knit something new. (I've done one already, in white.) If anyone has other suggestions, that'd be appreciated.

I wonder how Armistice Day felt in 1942...
So much that I take for granted about growing up in, and living in, Britain came out of that terrible 1914-1918 conflict - from school dinners and the NHS to my right to vote and to assume certain protection at work, and a thousand other rights alongside...
I wear my great-great-uncle's 1914-18 Campaign Medal every Armistice Day, on a ribbon round my neck, tucked inside my cardigan, and I think of that day in 1918 when the guns stopped. On the south coast of England it was sometimes possible to hear the war, across 30 miles or so of the Channel, and I hope there was birdsong that November day. All over Britain there would have been people for whom it came too late, who must have wept bitterly at their losses, knowing that when the troops came home, so many millions would stay in the war cemeteries, and even now half a million or so still in the mud of the battlefields, periodically emerging as a field is ploughed or foundations dug for a new house...
I wonder how they felt as the sirens sounded for yet more raiders overhead in 1942, sitting in their shelters and wondering when this one would end, if it ever would end...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
.
2025 needlework- *Reverse-couponing*:11 coupons :
January: teddybear-lined velvet jacket (11) & hat (0); velvet sleep-mask (0);9 -

It gives an alternative view of Armistice Day which is interesting.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
