I shall be digging through my yarn box today and finding the odd balls and oddments to make a long 'Lenny Kravitz' type scarf for my cousin for Christmas. I'm yet to decide on a stitch pattern though that wont be affected with the frequent colour changes. With loom knitting when you purl on a colour change, it creates like a dash line because the new colour goes under the old, so I feel like that limits me a little....
First world problems though and I'm sure he wouldnt notice it as being a 'fault' but I will...
Re the dotted-change - what about deliberately making that a feature. Could you do say a dozen rows of red, then one or two of yellow, then back to one or two of red, then on with the yellow? Or go back and forth twice or three times? So it makes it a kind of change-zone designed into it - like a chunk of the old solid colour and then a chunk of speckled bands blending he old and new colour, and then a chunk of the new solid colour?2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@Laura_Elsewhere that might be a little beyond my capability, although I think I understand the gist.... I'll ponder on how that might work on the loom....Wealth is not measured by currency7

I came home yesterday, ate dinner, and slept for about 9 hours. Never heard the husband and kids get home from church. I was OUT. It was fabulous, but exhausting. And the place was lovely! We may plan a whole church trip there for the spring.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.10

Liverpool_Anne said:@PipneyJane, the only reason they can think of is because OH is a driving instructor and so spends the day sitting in one position. It means meds will have to be taken for longer and we have had discussions about going for a short walk between every lesson but we also suspect an underactive thyroid might be playing a part, every member of OHs immediate family has thyroid problems. Hope you have had a lovely long weekend and the weather was kind. It's currentlt lashing down and blowing a hooley here.
Take care everyone

PS: I am a zombie without my thyroid drugs."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

@PipneyJane, zombie is a good description of OH during the past 18 months, and this is someone who literally ran everywhere when young, played national league volleyball training twice a week at the centre of excellence, moved on to mountain biking after a shoulder injury when over 40. We have been trying to get the doctor to listen for about 2 years and have now reached the foot stamping stage.

The trigger was a bout of shingles a year earlier, which wiped me out for two weeks and, from the symptoms, may have been chickenpox, but few people get that twice. (I'd had it when I was 6.) The autoimmune response wiped out my thyroid. They call it Hashimoto's Syndrome*. Good luck with the doctors.
- Pip
* In medical speak, a "syndrome" is a collection of symptoms. The cause of those symptoms may be a dozen different diseases or totally unrelated triggers but because they cause a collection of similar symptoms, they get labelled "XXX Syndrome"."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. @PipneyJane, yes that is what OHs 3 sisters and 1 brother were diagnosed with. OH has a lot of the symptoms, mainly tiredness, weight gain and generally feeling rough but the bloods are within the range, just. We organised a private blood test for the thyroid stimulating hormone on the recommendation from OH's nephew's wife who is a GP in Germany where this is the standard test and it confirmed our suspicious, we just have to convince the doctors here now. I have another friend with thyroid problems and she thinks everyone should have a base line test when they are 21 as the range is so large so you known what is the right level for you. Makes perfect sense to me but it will never happen. We will battle on
Take care everyone10 -
Laura_Elsewhere said:@Gem-gem - if you're only 4 coupons over, you're doing better than I did in my first 2 years - I ended up going dozens of coupons over (buying from spivs, obviously, on the black market!)...
It's a brilliant feeling when you reach December 31st and realise you've managed to stay within your coupon allowance at long last!!It must of been really difficult when the coupons dropped in 1943 and with rationing continuing for another 10 years. Did the allowance stay at around 48 coupons till 1953/4?2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons
