This 'Edlothia' shawl is just a very big triangular Granny-square - honestly! It uses no stitches you won't find in a bog-standard granny-square...
I'm rubbish at stitch-names but it uses chain, and I think in British it would be double-crochet and triple-crochet and that is all...

No coupons spent, but I have to share my excitement, a pair of pristine Ariat boots in the charity shop!!!!9

Probably my absolute favourite is Tuteate - their videos are completely non verbal which I actually love.Baileys_Babe said:@CAFCGirl do you have any loom knitting videos you can recommend so I can improve, my current efforts are very basic
Loomahat is good too - I can tolerate her accent, although sometimes she repeats to the point of actual confusion.
Probably the best thing for my loom knitting (and I'm presuming you mean handheld looms and not a weaving loom), was getting smaller gauge looms from KB - Knitting Board I think is the company. They're in Bezo's Emporium
The large ones are nice but everything always felt very 'holey' even using chunky or super chunky yarn.
@Laura_Elsewhere That is super pretty.
I think I've managed chain and a half treble crochet? The names and UK vs UK names confuse the hell out of me. I should probably just find 'stitch' videos rather than project ones, and maybe search out a childrens book to help teach meWealth is not measured by currency7 -
Thank you @CAFCGirl I will check those videos out, hopefully, I too can tolerate the accent, sometimes they can distract to the point I can no longer watch the videos.CAFCGirl said:

Yes i am talking about hand held looms, I have a set of knifty knitters style looms and I also have a KB sock loom, which I confess I have never had the confidence to use.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Google 'Edlothia' and you'll find it - it has writen instructions but I've only ever used the chart which are so much easier for me than written (well, given that I don't know the names of most stitches...!)
I've made half a dozen now, including the 'Wedlothia' I'll be wearing when we eventually get married!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Hugs from me too, Liverpool_Anne. That's so scary for both of you. I'm delighted he's improved so much and in the meantime - new pyjamas are a fully justifiable expense, especially as you already have tee shirts. Hopefully conditions will soon improve for clothes drying, too.Liverpool_Anne said:Hi all, lots to catch up with
but first I have spends to declare. OH has been in hospital since last Friday evening with blood clots in the lungs. Well on the mend now and probably home early next week if not sooner.
That's a fantastic discount on the purse, well done! I like the way you have effectively the same work top and no one notices! It's a little bit like the 100 day challenge in a way... if you sew or have a friend who is willing to sew for you, perhaps it would be worth copying one of the set you already have? (I must admit I've kept a number of worn out favourites pending the day when I can sew well enough to copy them). You also mentioned they are getting faded so if the material's suitable, could you dye some? Of course things do have a finite life (I'm so glad we don't have to reduce coupons next year as our 1943 sisters did) so in the long term you'll need to find a replacement work shirt.TwibbleDee said:I’m fairly certain I’ve blown my coupons out of the water at this point. Three new tank top/bras (the tank tops with a shelf built in) still unaccounted for, a tiny cloth purse yesterday, and I still desperately need a new belt and to replace half my work shirts as they’re getting old and faded. Sadly, they discontinued the kind I buy, so I’m going to have to go on the hunt - my current ones are sleeveless v-necks, all the same exact style, but in colors and patterns that vary enough that very few people realize I’m wearing effectively the same shirt every day.So, the tiny purse I bought is more of a pouch, big enough for wallet, phone, lip balm, and tiny notebook. I started off with a bag on clearance that would have been $12, but luckily realized it had a design flaw that would drive me batty. I was fully prepared to pay full price ($38!) for the one I found, when the lady said it was ringing up on sale! Then she told me to wait a minute, as if it was 65% off, it would then be another 50% off that price! And it was! My bag was under $8 instead of $38.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I have a couple of spends but no coupons to declare: a long sleeved tee shirt and a checked shirt from charity shops yesterday, I'm very pleased with them.
Sorry @CAFCGirl, I got there first! Though I'm not sure they'd be your style. With regard to your crochet stitches, I found the Dorling Kindersley crochet books very helpful, and I think I got mine for something vastly discounted at The Works a few years ago. I've put post it notes in to act as tabs to enable me to flip between stitch descriptions, which are photos with a description of what's happening. I'm fairly sure the company produces much the same content in a different format every few years so you may be able to get something second hand (and save the cash for yarn.
) even if there's no current edition. I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@florianatwobob, I have fallen for your gargoyle! His face is just gorgeous! Not sure what this says about me.
Lovely regular stitching too.
Perhaps if you post a photo of some of your Mum's joining stitches, there will be someone who can advise. Having tried to copy my Grandma's stitches on an old embroidery, I found there's a real feeling of walking in someone else's shoes. It's quite special.
@Laura_Elsewhere, as with everything you make - wow, those colours! That's a very beautiful shawl.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
