On a more serious note, since you are joining in January, you start the challenge with your full 66 coupons for the year. It's up to you how you track them - some of us keep a tally in our MSE signatures.

ETA: Please read the first post, all the way through. It sets out the rules for the Challenge and helps to explain our parallel universe."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!
2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 39.5 spent.
4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
22 - yarn
1.5 - sports bra
2 - leather wallet7 -
@PipneyJane thank you! It will be coming out of mums coupons then
I've been on a sock knitting mission today, I'd say I'm about half way through the second sock already! But getting increasingly concerned it won't be close enough match to be considered a pair... same colour and length , but I'm wondering if I used knitting needles that came in the kit ( generic wooden ones which I gave away to a friend who wanted small needles for her children to learn with) rather than my own (pink ones!) as it just isn't looking the same... bother! Looks like I'll have an odd pair of socks...oops!I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....7 -
Just tell anyone who notices that you've got another pair exactly the same at home!9

- If the difference continues to bother you, you can always frog - rip out - the first sock and reknit it with your pink needles. Socks take about 8 hours of knitting time each. That's less than a week of the average person's television watching time.

Sounds as though we have a team on to the notice board, then. I'll get on with some revamped lists for people to sign up to various things... will hide the newness for a little while if necessary - though I think we still have half a pot of varnish in the shed which, if I can find it, might be enough to explain any 'newness' if asked!
LiverpoolAnne, I hope you're now on the road to recovery? People will assume it was blast from when 'Itler went for the Caradoc... but it takes more than that to keep a good woman down!

I joined this challenge last January but disappeared when everything went pear shaped. I've no idea what I bought last year but it wasn't a huge a amount but I would like to join in again and will just start with the 66 coupons rather than trying to figure out whether I have any to carry over.I buy nearly all my clothes second hand and I have bought waaaaay too many over the last few years so for the purposes of my own personal challenge I count second hand the same as new. For the new items I buy I try to buy from British brands manufacturing in the UK and sustainable and ethical retailers, it can be hard and is always more expensive but it is hugely important to me.I have a few things winging their way to me over the next few days but will only count them once they are here and in permanent residence in the wardrobe, one thing has arrived today and that was a short cardigan, sort of cap sleeved like a cape with two buttons to fasten and it is lambswool, 5 coupons I think it is for that.I have ordered two new pairs of leggings today, one is a pair of yoga leggings to wear now, they are thicker than dressy ones and have reinforced seams, the current pair of black leggings I am wearing have gone at the top inside thigh so I can only wear them with a long coat, a detail I forgot this morning after walking the dog and running in and out of the house a bit, I took of my coat and nipped to a shop to buy a new mop bucket, I remembered the holes as I was crossing the road - woops. The other pair of leggings are the more dressy type and I have got them in a size smaller for when I lose the staggering amount of weight I put on last year (was knocked off my bike and couldn't cycle, run, walk too far or ride then I developed a foot injury, appetite was unaffected by either though).Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I have regularly worn socks that are the same style, but not the same color. Especially when they're bright colors.
I do need to find new pants to wear under my skirts. It's been cold lately, and I haven't been able to wear my skirts because my shin-length yoga pants I normally wear underneath them have wandered off (I'm assuming into the 14-year-old's room). Everything else is jeans or dress pants!
Would these count as leggings or tights, since that's their purpose? Or do I need to figure out a spend halfway between shorts and pants?2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.9 -
Did anyone see the programme about the sock factory? There was an interesting piece about how the Kitchener stitch came to be used for soldiers' socks (40 minutes in).
My DD's TA always wears odd socks to see how many children notice! It's a good way to get quiet children to talk.2025 Fashion on the ration

I'd say they're leggings, @TwibbleDee, so 2 coupons each. Good luck finding the current pair in the 14-year-old's bedroom.

(Incidentally, translation into non-British-English point: while you do get a certain number of nylon stockings/pantyhose for free - pantyhose are "tights" in the UK but not "tights" as you - or Australians like me - know them. Proper, thick tights cost the same as a pair of leggings at 2 coupons.)"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
