In your case, @Cherryfudge, I'd rely on what the physio told you.  On the Asics website, you want to select "Stability" shoes.  That's code for overpronation.  (It explains it down the bottom of each shoe's page, too.)

Thanks @PipneyJane, I will have a look. I wouldn't have known to look for 'Stability' shoes but I guess it makes sense.

I didn't know, either, @Cherryfudge, until I started browsing their website.  Certainly, the ASICS shoes I looked at in Mr Newcastle's shop didn't have an explanation anywhere near them, even though only some pairs were labelled "stability".

I have a tried n tested pattern of my own for the waistcoat, but I understand there are no patterns in the latest book. Think they're missing a marketing opportunity, there - how many people would pay to have Sewing Bee branded patterns 'as used on TV'?

I would.  Particularly that waistcoat and a top they featured earlier on.

I rather wonder if the recycled denim dress with the waves on will end up on the catwalk. It was too good not to. I'm sure there'd be a market for Sewing Bee patterns.

I'm now revising my knitting - the one where I didn't have enough yardage. I toyed with Fibonacci strips which look good when other people do them, but when I started to drape the yarn around so I could see it in advance, it was too fussy. I suspect the jumper will take eight balls of yarn and I have five of charcoal, three of red and one of mid grey. The latest idea is to keep the sleeves and sides in charcoal and put a wide vertical stripe edged with narrower grey up the middle, front and back. Or possibly asymmetrical stripes? Not quite decided yet.

Any thoughts please?! It's a crew necked sweater with dropped shoulders.

@CherryfudgeI'm a wuss and avoid vertically-striped knitting because it's such a pain getting the colours to abut without being either bulgy and lumpy or gappy and holey...

Very good point @Laura_Elsewhere - I've done intarsia before but not on this scale. It would also mean taking it right back to the top of the rib.

If you go to Thefoldline.com, every week they try to source patterns like the ones used on Sewing Bee. This week for example they’ve got the exact pattern for Ralph’s gold dress, oh my that really was a work of art despite the problems he had! If it’s self-drafted then they try and find a close equivalent. So if you look at Episode 6 there are several waistcoat patterns. 

I find it interesting that most of the made-to-measure dresses are using standard ’big name’ commercial patterns. I sometimes read sewing blogs and there seems to be a focus on independent patterns. I find them expensive, they usually need to be printed out and stuck together and I haven’t had good results with the couple I’ve tried.

Ooooh, thanks for this link! I'd not come across them before, I sense another rabbit hole to fall down!
