Cost of new Animal Health Certificate

It is extortion. My vet quoted £300 for a certificate that is effectively for single use only. As a GP who did HGV medicals etc, there is meant to be a suggested amount as laid out by the GMC. Dies the veterinary college not have something similar? I bet it does.
I eventually found a vet in Portsmouth that did it for £90.
What most people do(myself included) is to get an EU pet passport in France or Spain and use this. It is a bit of a workaround and not all vets in EU will do it, that adds more stress to the process. If the vets in the UK offered a reasonable fee for doing a 10 minute max job, we wouldn't have to try and skirt around the rules0 -
Well it's clearly one certificate per trip, single use only..........We pay £253.00 to our UK vet & additionally between Eu30.00 & Eu60.00 to a vet abroad for the return. Scandallous. We're considering registering our dog with a relative in Republic of Ireland & getting him an Irish/EU pet passport. Any thoughts or pitfalls with this? Thanks.0
