who will be the sommelier? I am sure Crashy would fit the bill, lots of stories to tell of the impending housing rash and will lend you an ear if your planning on buying a house"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

It's nearly that time of year. A lot of new faces to invite (or are they old faces with new names on the forum?). Any volunteers to host this year? DG won't mind and it will be great to see her finished projectSignature on holiday for two weeks5

Morning , I will be lurking again but never manage to stay up until midnight !!!0

I would love to attend but I fear that the postal strike may result in my invitation not getting through. I am also concerned that, in the unlikely event of my invitation arriving, the train strike will prevent me from actually reaching the party. It is certainly worrying that, even in the far fetched dream of receiving my invitation and getting a ride on the only moving train in the country, there would be no ambulance available to convey me on my annual New Years Eve trip to accident and emergency.
Plus, in the drug induced dream that see's me receiving an invitation, hurtling to the bash on the Polar Express and hailing a passing ambulance from my prone position in the gutter, there would be no accident and emergency personnel to sooth my battered brow. You see my problem.
However, assuming for a moment that all these insurmountable problems will be surmounted, can you please assure me if a) You have central heating? and b) Will it be turned on?9 -
I have heating and it is turned on, but only on the landing as I measured the humidity level and it's 12,000,000%, probably because my partner has 3 hour baths with the doors and windows open and I put all my laundry straight from the washing machine onto the radiators. The good news is, a damp professional is coming tomorrow to take a look so everything should be fine for NYE.
That is assuming that the Vauxhall Astra which is upside down on the driveway can be removed as it's blocking the front door. It's my son's. He modified it with a chip from Ebay, put two baked bean tins on the exhaust and fitted some fat tyres (he called them "slicks") he found left outside our local tyre shop. He was rushing back from the pub before the MOT ran out at midnight and under-estimated the bend outside the house that he can normally take at 100mph but it was frosty yesterday.
I know he's a naughty boy but I love 'im to bits so will swap the number plates over with one's he saw on a car for sale on Autotrader before I call WBAC for a valuation. Do you think they will collect?

That will rather depend on the elephant in the room that you have neatly sidestepped. What colour is it?
I was hoping you wouldn't ask. Therein lies a problem. I always thought it was "mint sunrise" which is factory code WAZZER7 but the sticker in the boot says it's TESSOR5 which is "caspian blue". Before I chase the garage for compo, what colour do you reckon it is?
PS do you like the slicks?

I understand that @Crashy_Time is unavailable, but @Sarah1Mitty2 might be able to attend.
Likewise no @G M, but you could invite @canaldumidi.
Is it bring a bottle?10 -
It's somewhat complicated by the shade of the surrounding shrubbery. If that, as I suspect, is Akira green then it's an absolute stone bonker mint sunrise. However, there are also elements of Chartreuse green which (hope I'm not teaching granny to suck eggs) leads us inevitably to Caspian blue. One for the interior designers amongst us to make a ruling on.
I like 3/4 of the slicks but feel somewhat ambivalent towards the fourth.0
