Which day is best to start scooping up GROCERY Boxing Day sales from supermarkets please?

  • Got so little at Aldi that I tried local Lidl on way back and had a lot 30% off on party food even some dated end of month or longer. Not sure why but not complaining.

Nothing left on ducks, geese or turkeys.
  • Thanks for the report back, guess there's not much on Christmas Eve yet until maybe towards the end of the day? If anyone else wants to pitch in with their experiences today or Boxing Day or Sunday then please do, would be helpful, thanks in advance! :)
  • Morning everyone, I've gone for a Christmas gamble / roulette this year, not purchased any meat and we'll be eating whatever bargain I can get reduced tonight. Question is, what time is best to go look?

Heh I admire your courage, though I guess this year is the perfect year to gamble with smaller gatherings! The consensus from HotUKDeals seems to be to arrive 2 hours before closing time just in case there are queues (I went during the day yesterday and there was a long queue at M&S, no queue at Aldi). Then if you hang around for an hour, the latest they'll reduce would be 1 hour before closing time so you can hopefully scoop up the reductions. Good luck and let us know how you get on, merry Christmas! :)

in Aldi now - still quiet and nothing marked down out out of normal 30% for 24th despite a lot dated 25/26.
Aldi, will be donating that to local charities on christmas and New Years eve as well this year.  As they are shut christmas/boxing and New Years day as well.  I am guessing a lot of other supermarkets will be doing the same.

Not pre judging but your choices may be more limited this year, especially as an announcement on new CV tiers is supposedly imminent
For instance I'm in tier 2, my "normal s/ms are in T4, I am supposed to use the T2 sm near me and not travel into the T4 ones
Our local M & S, in T4, was turning T2 addresses away. May be an exception but something to be aware of
How do M&S ask for addresses? What’s to stop someone to say a postcode in T4? If they have a relative or friend living just over the T4 border, use their postcode

Thanks that might explain that although still expected them to try and shift some at 30 or 50%. Seems like some of their branches have been although varied between those 2 based on hotukdeals comments.
Have to pop back out to get a late Xmas present shortly so will check again if I get chance as still short of main meat dish for 2 of us for tomorrow.

There won’t be turkeys as normally there’s 10m eaten on CD. With T4 unable to have anyone outside their household and support bubble. Plus many others not taking risks, guessing, 75-100% more turkeys and birds eaten.  Some people are not doing a traditional Christmas dinner, know a couple of friends who are doing their families favourite meal. One of them is hm lasagne with loads of garlic bread.
  • Managed to get a turkey crown and ham at 30% off at Aldi plus a few extras. Think they had only just marked them down near 3 as there was a small crowd round them!

Had plenty of turkey crowns which surprised me as expected them to be more popular this year with smaller household gatherings.

We are in tier 2 until tomorrow and our local pubs have been asking as well. You have to take in proof of address. So unless you have a letter with your name and address on or a bank statement, you weren't served. Shops were doing the same.
