Would you give this timewaster another chance?

Would just like your opinion
Had someone booked to view our house last weekend, didnt show up  didnt call EA or let us know

Now, when the EA called them for feedback he said "oh i didnt go had to work late, i'll book again for this weekend"

My question is - Would you let them view after letting you down, afterall do we really want to get involved with someone so unreliable who cant make a simple phone call
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

That's people for you, stuff happens.

You have to make your mind up how much you want to sell your house.....
  • I'd give him another chance but be very careful if he makes an offer. He may not be bothered enough to follow it through.
  • Hmmm it's a toughie. Instinct says no but the market is hardly bouyant at the moment and it may be a serious opportunity missed.

A similar thing happened to myself and my partner. We're selling our flat and someone had booked in for a second viewing. We tidied up and sat waiting for them to turn up one evening. They didn't and we were really disappointed with it being a second viewing and they had seemed really keen. Anyway the agent called them the next day and turns out they were stuck in traffic. They did rearrange and put in an offer which we accepted.............then turned round and pulled out a couple of weeks later!!! So maybe it is an indicator of being a time-waster. OR a genuine reason as i said it's a tough call!
  • We had one viewer not turn up (well we had quite a few). I phoned up estate agent the next day, they said they had not heared anything. Phoned me back saying the blokes girlfriend did not want to see it, AND they couldn't find it. So later that day, they phoned back and said this bloke wanted to arrange to come out that night. We were not too happy, but said yes.
Turned out when he got there that he was looking for a house as he had split from his girlfriend, and sorry he had to rearrange the time the day before. It turned out the estate agent had lied when they couldn't get through to him, and then must have realised they had been supposed to rearrange the appointment, so had to phone me back.
We gave our notice with them as it was not the first time they had lied to us (we got a friend to 'view' as we suspected they were making up feedback, and they were).
The bloke did put an offer in, but we had another offer the same time and took the other, which then fell through 6 weeks later.

I'd give them one more chance, things happen, and speaking from experience, this is a huge big deal to you, possibly less so a prospective purchaser. I think until you've actually sold somewhere, you truly can't appreciate how stressful the whole thing is. When I sold my first house I'd just no idea how much people mess you about. But the house I sold attracted mainly FTBs. When I bought my first house I suppose I had a fairly cavalier attitude - I most certainly wouldn't now I realise what a pain in the rear it all is!
But a buyer is a buyer...

an estate agent friend of mine said that prospective purchasers are far less likely to just not turn up if they are being shown around the property by the EA - even if the vendor is at home - so may i suggest you get your EA to do their job, earn their money and do the viewings themselves - you can always chip in during the viewing if you think they are omitting important selling points

shed also said it is incredibly common that folks just don't turn up =- don't take it personally
  • Clutton-you have just said everything I wanted to say, exactly as I would have said (actually you probably worded it better than I would of).

    Couldnt agree with you more
  • can empathise

I would let them do the viewing and be lovely to them
trouble is the market as it is time of year etc you have to look after number one ie yourself

you only need one buyer and even though the viewer needs a good slap it could be that one

    good luck
I found my eutopia tee hee I live in canada yeehaa!
  • Another chance :)

Everybody gets it wrong sometimes - a one-off doesnt make him a timewaster, just annoying ;)
"Getting Married" - The act of betting half of everything you own on the fact you will love someone forever :rotfl:
  • Personally I would find out if they are in a position to go ahead. If they are all sold up and ready to move give them another chance. If house is for sale or he's just thinking about it for a possible move next year tell him not to bother.
