I suspect the answer is never - too much arguing which isn't popular with the mods. 🙄

If the report button was removed from some of the boards then the forum team would not need to worry about getting too many trivial reports from members just wanting to stick the knife into people they don't like'
They could have pro-active BGs instead, ones that actually spend time on these boards reading and contributing to threads and they could have a report button for any posts/threads that have just become slagging matches. that way there would just be a single report rather than the hundreds that MSE say they are getting.2 -
Think most of the Arms regulars have now upped and left0

All of the BG's are spend time on the boards reading and contributing to threads but we don't read every single one all day every day as we are volunteers that also have other commitments and jobs. So a board will never be covered by a BG 24/7 I am afraid.duncanthedog said:If the report button was removed from some of the boards then the forum team would not need to worry about getting too many trivial reports from members just wanting to stick the knife into people they don't like'

It doesn't need to be all day every day sarah, just the fast moving threads, they are going to be the ones that any arguments get started on as most people can't help themselves from answering back.
This system works well on other forums but of course MSE does not want advice on how best to keep the forum running smoothly, it's either their way or no way.
and NO, not all BGs contribute to their boards content or even visit the boards they are supposed to be a BG on.5 -
We are checked and have to be active on our boards as far as I am aware.duncanthedog said:It doesn't need to be all day every day sarah, just the fast moving threads, they are going to be the ones that any arguments get started on as most people can't help themselves from answering back.

If members spot arguing on threads, thats one of the reasons the report button is for, thats all a bg would do, either that or we would lock the thread for the forum team to review.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. The whole system seems reactive rather than proactive. It seems you can post whatever you like as long as it isn't reported. Even then decisions can take days. Contentious posts that break the rules can remain up for several days. That includes abuse and name calling.
It would really help if trolls were dealt with far more effectively3 -
That is something that was not being done enough and that allowed the thread to degenerate even further with more and more snowflakes reporting every post they did not agree with even if there was nothing actually wrong or offensive about the post.sarah1972 said:

That brings me onto the serial reporters, all they ever do is report and report again, even setting up multiple accounts so that it seems to the forum team that a particular post/member is offending a lot of people and this then gets them banned for no particular reason, and we all know that MSE are not good at listening to appeals.4 -
I have been a way from MSE for a few weeks and have nipped back to see if it had changed it hasn't, couple of years ago when i was a BG we were having terrible problems with spam, the upshot was that because as a BG I had been pro-active they sacked me..I kid you not.
Any way as DT is still closed i'm off on my travels again.4
