If he has been contacted by track and trace or will be shortly they will ask about food supplies etc. I agree with the other advice in that Facebook support groups/response groups in the local area should also be able to assist.

    How to register for support

To arrange support for yourself or someone you know call 0808 196 3646 (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week).  Test and Trace would direct your brother here.

They’re a bit dear & the range is a bit limited & there’s a £1.99 delivery charge for some timeslots but their minimum order is only £15.
I ordered three bags of shopping at midnight and it was delivered the following lunchtime.

He could also register on next door - there are “help maps” where people can be contacted who offer help with shopping etc.
Alternatively as already mentioned lots of community groups around who offer help with shopping.

Try Facebook pages for the local area. I did this when my shielding uncle ran out of food and I managed to get the number for a local cab company who were doing deliveries of basic grocery boxes. This saw him over until my sister could deliver some groceries to him. There maybe something similar in the local area.

  • There's a number on the NHS website for people asked to isolate to put them in touch with a volunteer service if no family or friends can assist in getting food or medications.

With a confirmed positive test, I think he is right to look into all other avenues first before venturing out, since there is pretty much no chance of not leaving some trace of the virus somewhere, even with loads of precautions. Could be fomites on clothes, etc.
