I'd agree with the first part of this but not the second. Plenty of examples from history of prosperous civilisations wiped out by climate change. Central London is sensitive to sea-level rise but is rich enough to (probably) be able to defend itself and mitigate the effects, coastal Bangladesh less so.1 -
"I realise people have been making the same doom and gloom predictions for thousands of years"......I'm sure if you could return in another thousand years you would find just as many drama queens as now.
You are planning on returning nine hundred and seventy years before then; trust me you will find the same wine in newer bottles.
Digger Mansions has all it's retirement savings in gold, you should read up on positives and negatives of gold.In retirement we find it very positive. You could just put by for the future in gold only, but as it is best purchased 'a la Buffet' on a long term buy and hold, it is not a great deal of help if you want to buy a house. Gold will survive anything except Armageddon, but at that point, who'd care.
For now, calm down dear, do what you consider works in the here and now that you are happy with.Dire warnings of this that and the other are best ignored. My favourite supporting evidence for that argument is to remind everyone of predictions made at the beginning of the last century that civilisation was going to be buried under ten foot of horse shirt..._0 -

Retired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."2 -
