Hello all
Does anyone know where I can find an official phone number I can ring to get help with regards travel within the UK rather than interpret the rules in the wrong way .
Thank you
Thank you

Is the information on gov.uk not clear?0

Given the state of the country's finances, I can see why it's not a priority to set up a taxpayer-funded call centre to answer questions about government policy, especially when the frequency of change would minimise the chances of accurate information being relayed by underpaid agents anyway!teabeagea said:Hello allDoes anyone know where I can find an official phone number I can ring to get help with regards travel within the UK rather than interpret the rules in the wrong way .

As you'll see from this board, it's not uncommon for people to post interpretation questions on here, so that's always worth a try, in the absence of anything more official (that isn't covered on gov.uk)....1 -
I'm glad my taxes don't pay to run a call centre when the information is so readily available, and clear.Just ask your question and we'll try to help.0

Lots of furloughed people sitting around doing nothing for 80% wages.
Sure some of them could man the lines0 -

Are you volunteering to train them all, orchestrate the IT infrastructure and plan shifts etc?
Not to mention that anyone could be called back to work at any moment... good luck!

Despite the above Boris & Co would either allocate and contract the work out to one of their mate's firms and it would then probably be farmed out to a call centre in Bangalore.2

What is the question you would ask a call Centre?teabeagea said:Hello allDoes anyone know where I can find an official phone number I can ring to get help with regards travel within the UK rather than interpret the rules in the wrong way .

I'm sure there are also some suitably trained people to do that also on furlough - we have millions (?) of people trained to do lots of tasks just sitting around doing nothing atm costing the government/us/them billions -- we need t start making use of their skills somehow - or if not their skills - their time/availability.mattyprice4004 said:JamoLew said:Lots of furloughed people sitting around doing nothing for 80% wages.

Just because their employer can't find a use for them, pretty sure someone can/could0 -
Thanks for the replies , I have looked at the web site but find myself some what confused with interpretation of things . Is it law or just advised .
My general question is I live about a 4 hour drive from family and we had planned on a short outdoor non physical contact meeting half way to exchange Christmas presents for the children , all being very very almost o c d careful during the original 5 day break but know that's gone I'm trying to figure out what's legal or advised . I live in a tier 2 they in a 3 .
I don't want to start a keyboard warrior thread about this that and the other . I have been very careful and followed government rules and I wish more people did BUT I believe doing this trip is minimal risk no contact literally drive 20 min chat and exchange then drive home . Far less risky then going to my work place etc but not sure and confused as to legal or advised .

The helpline would have told you not to go. Its against the advice to travel between tiers for any reason, police in York have been fining people for this today apparently, there's an article about on the BBC and the Guardian. Thanks for the replies , I have looked at the web site but find myself some what confused with interpretation of things .
