A bit of a problem with cordless landline phone. BT1000 twin.

It should go
Ring ring (gap) , ring ring (gap) .

What I'm getting for a call
Ring ring (gap gap gap gap) ring ring (gap gap gap gap)

When I go through the tones on handset it sounds at the correct speed.

I've checked all plugs and connections.
Changed the micro filter.
Put brand new rechargeable batteries in both handsets.
Checked all settings on both the handsets.

Line quality is absolutely fine as is internet, did online line test with ISP all fine.

Any suggestions before I replace them? I changed the tone to something shriller which is still slower during a call than we want/need TBH.

    Hmm, is it not perhaps getting enough signal down the line to make it ring 'properly'?
    Does the intercom still work properly?
    It would be a shame to replace them, but not to fix the issue???

    We've never used the intercom so I'd not know if that was working properly.

    I also doubt the ISP would do any tests until we tried with a new phone (only have an absolutely ancient corded as alternative).

    I agree it would be a shame which is why I posted :smile: Although I would recycle locally or give to a charity shop.

    Have you tried seeing what happens when you use the "ancient corded" instead of the cordless phone? Does that ring normally?
    Do the other ring tones on your cordless phone play normally?

    Did it ring "properly" before?

    Yes it has slowed noticeably compared to before.
    The other tones play normally tested via handset but slower as well during a call.
    Handsets showing full signal strength so no loss of communication with base.
    I should try the ancient corded phone...
  • Are calls OK audio-wise? If yes then it'll be to do with the age of the handsets most likely. Cordless phones (or rather the base units) do not use the ring wire in the phone wiring, so if the calls are OK then the slow ringing has nothing to do with the ring wire (or lack of).

    That's in response to what I think this post was meaning:

  • @KxMx are you with TalkTalk ?
    Strange ringing spacing seems to be a recent and widespread problem which they are looking into but currently do not have an answer for.

    Yes, is it possible to try it out at someone else's, who doesn't use your company?

    That's interesting. I came looking at this thread because exactly the same thing's happened to my mum's phones in the last few weeks and she was asking me about buying new ones in the new year sales.

    She's with Talk Talk, her phones are BT 2500. I shall have to look into it a bit more.

    @The_Fat_Controller
    Yes! I am with Talk Talk.

    Unfortunately Tier 4 hits in 36 hours so trying it at someone else's is not possible.

    From looking briefly at the TT forum many are describing exactly what I've been experiencing, slow ring tones and long pauses in between.

    @Uptown_Boy
    Yes audio wise no problems at all.
