AOL are offering a phone package at £7.99 a month, any calls in the UK, and you just pay for your BT line ast normal and of course the cost of mobiles. I just wondered if anybody could tell me if this was a good deal? It only lasts up to the end of this month, so want to know asap, whether or not to sign up.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Welcome to MSE and the Telephone Boards Tammy.
Have a read of this thread here as it best explains how many calls a month you would need to make for it to be worthwhile signing for AOL. From memory I think its something like 12/14 calls a day
This is of course comparing using https://www.call18866.co.uk and AOL for calls.0 -

Calls to 0844..., 0845..., 0870.... 0871...., mobiles (07...) and premium rate (09...) are chargable and are not part of the £7.99 free calls you get. This though, is just the same as ALL other companies that do 'free' calls as they all exclude these types of calls.0
