Anything that says “should not” is guidance; anything that says “must not” is law.

So from that we can conclude it's advisory and not mandatory meaning it can be ignored at your discretion.

Wow!  Ok guys.  I don't think I said or even suggested anywhere that I think I am 'special' or that I am going to ignore the guidance and do what i want anyway.  My inclination was actually to cancel - I just thought it would be helpful to get some other opinions.  Why people feel the need to be quite so rude and insulting i really don't know.

Haven't been on the site for a few months and now I'm reminded why.  I'll be off for good then and let you all calm down
Unfortunately there are an awful lot of people on here who take delight in this sort of thing. Politeness costs nothing and gains everything.

Personally I don't see anyone being rude and/or insulting

well seems as though that was my 1st post in the the thread - your response comes across are rather terse and to the point - rather like the other responses.

    Rude and/or insulting -- naaah

Factual and blunt --- yes, seems that's the only way to cut thru the snowflake BS nowadays

Birmingham is in Tier 3.  Government advice is “People are advised not to travel to and from tier three areas”, so assume your trip was fairly important and essential rather than just using up part of a previously booked flight reservation.

Correct assumption, I will be working for a couple of the Days I am down here and my daughter, son and ex-wife have somewhere for me to stay.

I don't always follow advice, but I don't break the Law.
