Hi All !
Looking to replace my current mobile but wondering if it's worth getting a phone which is capable of handling 5G, not necessarily for now but for future ? Like most of my mobiles, I will be keeping for a long time - 3-5 years approx, maybe longer, so hence my thinking of getting one I can bring over to 5G when it's more available. I'm looking to spend no more than £300 & been looking at CEX, as I have significant amount of vouchers for it. Might be spend more if it was going to be worth it.
Any thoughts ? Any phones you'd recommend ?
Thanks in advance.

If you're due a change then it may make sense. I expect over the time you're keeping the phone then 5g will become more prevalent and affordable. Have you looked at Xiaomi Mi10t lite 5g? https://www.mi.com/uk/mi-10t-lite/1

These days, most phones don't have user replaceable batteries. That, along with built-in obselesence and the rapid technology advances make expecting a phone to still be usable after 5 years pretty optimistic. My 3 year old Moto G4 is close to useless now, as its battery has failed. The Samsung G3, that came before it, is on about its third basttery, but is still useless because of the very old version of Android on it. Will still make phone calls and send messages though!...

Thanks all ! I don't stay in a city so it might be a while before I see 5G but I think it will come & I think it will be less than 5 years. I get the point about the battery & Android version but my current phone (Moto X) has lasted well & is still doing 95% of what I need & it's over 5 years old. Thanks flashg67 for the tip on Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite - got a CEX for £220, which I can get £60 off.0

I would recommend the Motorola G 5G Plus. I got mine brand new on PAYG from Vodafone for £199 and a compulsory £10 top up. This is the version with 6Gb RAM, 128GB storage and large 5000mAh battery. Absolutely superb value for money!I've just checked the Vodafone website and this phone is now on sale at £299, £100 more!! Whilst this is in line with other retailers it seems odd that they could do it for £100 cheaper a couple of weeks ago. Back to the drawing board, eh?0

its £249 on Amazon for the dual SIM model and its unlocked to any 2 X SIMs0

Should make changes to your phone to get the best functionality.

Some of the networks haven't fully deployed 4G yet - never mind 5G!0
