I'm with Andrews and Arnold, working from home and I use SSH a lot to manage various debian servers. They block no ports in either direction. They also don't have network level content filters, subscribers that want to block sites have to do it themselves, so if you want an ISP with adult content filtering then they aren't suitable.
edit - actually, if you're using github that suggests you have a fair degree of technical understanding, so I'd ask why you're using an ISP from the poundshop end of the market.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
I signed up to Post Office broadband before the first lockdown. All I wanted then was something that gave us basic internet. Then I started using it all day from home, and it became annoying. Also, just because I have some technical understanding doesn't mean I have more money than sense. I want the cheapest broadband that works, and cheap ISPs generally do work fine once you get them setup. I've gone with the cheapest for the last 20 years, never regretted it once... until I was blindsided by SafeGuard. I was with Virgin until they put up the price and then wouldn't let me renew at reasonable rate, so I switched out to BT purely because they were the cheapest option when I included reconnecting the telephone line in the cost. Then when I came to the end of the BT contract Post Office were the cheapest. I've had no problem whatsoever with the connectivity, and when I've rung them up they have tried to help me, but I guess they're not going to change their filtering software just for one customer. £20/month for 12 month contract at 38mb would be excellent, and perfectly good enough for me were it not for the problem with the filter.

Does the PO office router let you change the DNS?
If so, you could use one with a family filter e.g. OpenDNS and turn off 'netnanny'.0
