By the end of 2021 the majority of current predictions will have been overtaken by events.

The $ is more likely to weaken than the £ strengthen.  :)

  • The past year and the events we've experienced are a timely reminder that investing has uncertain outcomes. Stick to the well known basic investment rules and you won't go wrong. This time is never different.
Thrugelmir, if I may ask:- (1) Are you frugal by nature and, in particular, in your attitude to money and investing?

    (2) Your username suggests you may be rather familiar with the writings of JRR Tolkien. Is this true and, if so, do you think the very sound advice given by e.g. Gandalf and Aragorn, to name but two of Tolkien's greatest characters, can be applied to personal financial management and, in particular, to the continual learning process involved in investing one's money wisely?
We all have individual experiences over our lifetimes. What we are exposed to shapes our views and understanding of the wider world.  As our investment horizons shorten then cumulative years of experience come to the fore.

Norse mythology, in particular the Gods, has been an interest of mine for a very long time.

Thank you very much - that's all good sound advice and you're quite right, everyone is an individual and must learn from their individual experience over time.

[This is nothing directly to with investing but it does involve a ring forged from stolen gold: Your very long term interest in Norse mythology, especially the Gods, suggests that you may well be familiar with Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung Cycle or at the very least the Norse mythology on which some of this is based.]
