Ebay buyer INR
Sent an item by Royal Mail small parcel 2nd class postage bought through ebay three weeks ago.
Just received a message from ebay Item not received.(seems a long time to wait to me)
Checked the tracking and it says will only be updated when we attempt to deliver your item.
Do I just refund and then claim from Royal Mail? what happens if gets delivered in the meantime etc.?
Advice please!!

Has the buyer opened a formal case? If so just keep an eye on the escalation date as if item doesn’t arrive you must refund before case times out against you. After 15 working days you can start your claim with RM online.POPPYOSCAR said:This is the first time this has happened to me

if item arrives once you have refunded then you can try asking buyer to re pay but they rarely do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes they have. They did not contact me first.
This is the message
.Your buyer opened a request because their item hasn't arrived. It is important for you to respond by 22 Dec 2020.
You can resolve your buyer's request by providing tracking information or any additional delivery details. If you do not have tracking that shows delivery, please consider refunding your buyer.
Your final value fee will be credited if you send a full refund.
This transaction is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee, so from 23 Dec 2020 your buyer can ask us to review the case and make a decision.
The PayPal funds from this transaction will not be available for withdrawal until this request is resolved. However, you can still use these funds to send a refund to your buyer.

All you can do is wait and see if it arrives in the meantime but don’t let the INR lapse. If it doesn’t arrive you’ll have to refund and claim from RM.1

Is there any point in contacting Royal mail or just refund by the 22nd and then put in a claim?0

You can try. I’ve tried a few times and when I go through all the options I get told they can’t handle my call right now and cut me off.POPPYOSCAR said:Is there any point in contacting Royal mail or just refund by the 22nd and then put in a claim?Personally I’d refund and just do an online claim.1 -
I messaged the buyer but they did not reply.
I have had parcels where the tracking did not update but I know they were received by the feedback being left.
I may be being unfair to the buyer here but it seems a long time to wait for an order to arrive without geting in touch.especially as it is a Christmas item. I feel they may be taking advantage of the tracking not being updated.
Anyway I suppose in the event I have no option but to refund.0 -
I’ve had that in the past where tracking has not updated and buyers have left feedback so I know it’s been delivered.POPPYOSCAR said:I messaged the buyer but they did not reply.

Yes there are buyers who will take advantage of anything they can. It’s the risk .1 -
Yes such are the perils of ebay.
I am going to refund and message them that if Royal Mail try to deliver the item to refuse delivery in the hope it gets sent back to me.(if by chance they are genuine)0 -
Hopefully you will get an honest buyer.POPPYOSCAR said:Yes such are the perils of ebay.

I thought I would speak to ebay.
They told me not to refund the buyer yet as deliveries are being delayed at the moment and if the buyer asks them to step in and I cannot prove it has been delivered they will refund my fees and remove any defect as a gesture of goodwill.0
