I can't find a way after my wife moved from iOS to Android.
There's a paid app that claims it can do it, but the feedback on it it less than rosy.
My wife just started again with a new Whatsapp acc.

I have whatsapp conversations backed up from 2013
I used to have an IpHoNe 3gs (but I'm OK now!) but can't remember if these chats are from then or not, but I've certainly had five Android phones since - doesn't it just download to the phone when you log in on a new device?

I don't have an iPhone but a couple of years ago my wife used one for a few weeks before returning to Android. It's possible to export chats to email but that's as far as it goes. I also investigated the paid app option but it seemed to be a non starter.

It's easy to switch phones on the same operating system with WhatsApp and and bring existing chats with you but not from apple to android. Once you take the sim out of the iPhone you will find that WhatsApp will lock up and you can't view old chats. This is because it is linked to the phone number so will only ever function on one phone.

I did export the chats (but it was very basic) but my wife didn't have any messages of importance so wasn't worried. If you desperately need to see on old message and have kept the old iPhone then you can put the sim back in and reactivate WhatsApp to read it.

No, with Android to have to back up the chats to Google Drive or something and then restore them on the new phone. Between iPhone and Android it’s next to impossible to do, although as the second post says I think there are ways to do it but they are involved. I think automatic transfer is coming but not sure when.

This is definitely possible, or it was when I did it in 2017 when I switched from iphone 6s to a galaxy S8.  the process involved connecting both to a PC, extracting some files from one and doing something to them and then doing something else. google drive was involved somewhere. the file was called chatstorage.SQLITE, it's been on my desktop ever since for some reason.
I just searched on youtube at the time and followed one of the guides. I've tried to find the one I used but I can't, there are so many.
