Toilet seat how to remove

I removed one last year where the screws were under the large silvers covers but the right angled fixings above held them in place and the small allen grub screw had corroded making these unremovable. I got to the screw underneath by bending the silver covers out of the way. This trashes the covers but presumably you're replacing them.1

I will let you know when and if I manage to get it off.2 -
DON'T take the pan out,
prise up the chrome cover & there is a screw underneath, undo the screw/bolt, this may leave the nut part inside the hole just push it down so it falls inside the pan, don't forget the new one needs to be a top fixing oneI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

I'm going to try a hacksaw through the seal when my more pressing things are sorted. Thanks for your suggestion.0 -

I've had another go at levering the caps, they don't want to turn and just lift the whole side of the fitting.
I will spray with some silicone spray and leave to soak. I dont want to be too heavy handed.0 -
I've never seen the top fixings without a removable clip on seat, not sure why though.
Otherwise if they are bottom fixings, you could try removing the screws from the seat and lid and see if you can unscrew the metal caps from the threaded rod by pulling upwards to hold the bottom nut while you turn it.1 -
I cant get at the bottom fixings as its a back to the wall toilet. I do wonder if it was put on before the toilet was installed.
I'll have to find a hacksaw to have a go cutting through the plastic and hopefully the rod.0
