@phil4432 yes they’re new tenants. They seem to be quite anti-social on first impression, leaving lots of their rubbish in the hallway, and constantly breaking the rules re: COVID and having friends over,  but we’re not too sure what we can do. When we approached them about making banging noises and talking loudly they said it was because it was Friday and they were entitled to make as much noise as they see fit in their own home. Perhaps selling up is our only option but we’re not sure what we can do about this in the short term.. it’s so stressful!

Do you know how long they will be renting for?
It seems your only options are to wait it out, or sell.
I'll let you know in advance, the council will be very slow to act, if they act at all.  We simply don't have the laws to enforce peace and quiet in this country.

Lockdowns are now going to be  way of life, unfortunately.

These sort of people are stressful, and I really do sympathize.

@twopenny I do like that idea but I think it may just give them a free pass to put their music on loudly, that’s thankfully not something we have to put up with... yet. At moment we’re only subjected to their banging footsteps all around our flat and their loud voices all evening. It even comes through our soundproofed ceilings it’s that loud.
i remember when i was living with my parents.  the neighbours used to play music really loud during the day.  my brother bought two professional speakers that you see in dance venues and i rigged it up to the music system and turned them on full volume.  the sound was so loud it did your head in.  i think this frightened the neighbour as they never played loud music again! lol  :D
Did you talk to the neighbour first?

That might have sorted the issue at no cost and no danger of the situation escalating out of control

I know there are many older posters on here, and  I mean no disrespect.
Times have really changed.  Talking to sociopaths, never solves anything.  They'll just have someone to vent on.

The only sort of talk that would work, is more of a 'direct,' talk.  I wouldn't recommend that.
