Hi All,
It's our little ones first Christmas (5 months old) and we're wondering if parents buy any gifts for their infants? She has everything she needs but it seems wrong ignoring the event.

What any one else does is irrelevant, do you want to buy something for your child?
personally we did. What about something for their bedroom, or a piece of jewellery or nice book for when they are older0 -
Mine were 9 months old on their first Christmas, I remember buying bath toys for them. You could also look at the year ahead as to what their development stage is likely to be and buy something in anticipation of that.0

My eldest was 5 days and my youngest 3 months old when they had their first Christmas's. We got them a token gift as it felt nice, the first couple of years they were more interested in the shiny wrapping paper though.2

My baby was 3 weeks old and I didn't but my sister got her a build-a-bear for when she is older. This year we have bought gifts though. I think it is pretty much personal preference.0

My eldest was 9 weeks old on his first Christmas, we bought him some cuddly toys and toys that he would start to use before he turned 1. We also got him a 5 foot cuddly dog which 17 years on still has a place in his bedroomMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
Make £2024 in 2024...0 -
My son was 7 months old for his first Christmas and we bought very few things but a relative bought a really lovely gift of a set of uncirculated coins in a presentation wallet. When dancing with dragons, don't let your partner lead.0

Definitely buy a Baby's First Christmas card to keep. I'd suggest a couple of books too. I know they're too young at the moment but you can start traditions this year ( read them aloud yourselves) and bring it out every year. I'd suggest one of the Christmas story and an illustrated copy of the poem 'Twas the Night before Christmas.
My First Bible Stories: The Nativity: Amazon.co.uk: Guillain, Charlotte, Grainger, Lesley: Books
Pop-Up 'Twas The Night Before Christmas by Susanna Davidson, Gaia Bordicchia | Waterstones
Next year, I'd get a nativity set so that they can move the characters around as you read the story.
Playmobil Nativity Set 3996 Boxed plus 3997 Wise Men near complete | eBay
or if you can knit (or know someone who can), make these during the year.
Nativity Knitting Pattern 9 Figures Easy to Knit ! | eBay
You might want to buy a special bauble for the tree too. You can get personalised ones with dates on and/or a Christmas stocking where you get the same one out every year.
That's one of the special things about Christmas is setting family traditions and you can start now. 😊1 -
