No reply from Solicitor in a week

Is there a further purchase beyond your purchase? It sounds as though your purchase solicitor is not ready and could be the reason they are not yet liaising with your sale solicitor.0

There is yes. It just seems like he's not talking to anyone. As I say, all I ask for is an update. Maybe I have unreasonable expectations, but I don't think expecting a reply to a simple question within a week is too much to ask.0

I understand how you feel. Just try to remember that conveyancing is at its busiest at the current time - Christmas approaching, stamp duty holiday and covid-19 - replying to a simple question x 250+ clients is time they do not have when their priority must be to those transactions due to complete before the Christmas holiday.ccfc1972 said:There is yes. I do understand yes. I'm really not expecting them to prioritise us. I am just looking for some clarification on a couple of points. It would actually save him time if he would just replyTiglet2 said:

I think the issue may be they don’t know what is going on with your file without pulling it out and reviewing it, this actually takes more time that you imagine. I am in a similar position to you, I have asked my solicitor to let me know what is outstanding if she gets a chance, but otherwise I will be chasing her up in January, as everyone else is telling me they are ready to go, and January is when we want to complete. My friend’s solicitor has actually sent an email to all clients saying if they are not due to complete before Christmas they won’t get any communication til the new year. At least they are better at managing expectations!0

We have been told exactly this. Our solicitor has said she will be in touch in the first time week of the new year. I really do think they are only concentrating on the completions right now.tigerlily74 said:I think the issue may be they don’t know what is going on with your file without pulling it out and reviewing it, this actually takes more time that you imagine.
