Would something along the lines of this be any good to transfer goods from the liners?

I hope your post is a joke.
Do you honestly think that supermarkets pay £7-£15 per delivery out of their own pocket? Or that they upped their home deliveries during the pandemic just for the kudos? If you do you're incredibly naive. Home deliveries are a for-profit venture.
As for the crates, of course giving them away pushes up the cost of delivery! Unlike carrier bags or the infamous tray liners (which cost nowhere near the 40p customers are levied for them) the value of a delivery tray is anywhere between £1 and £5, depending on its age and your buying power. So supermarkets who give them away are definitely adding to their delivery costs - which is why they don't usually give them away.
You do the maths. Supermarkets are indeed businesses. ;-)
Nope its not a joke and if you bothered to do you own research then you know its not.  How do they make a profit if the cost of each delivery is between £7-£15 with a profit margin of 1-4%.  You do the math!!!! That is why prices have gone up for deliveries as you don't get charged more for the groceries.
They might be from 5 years ago but its still the same and the costs have risen since then.
Crates get broken or damaged so will be just chucked away how do you know the crates given away were not there last legs and about to be thrown out.  I am well aware how businesses work and often some customers sudsides the others.  Who payed for all free delivery passes then for the people who were isolating.  It was not the government and but the supermarkets themselves.  And they did not have to but they did.
The only reason supermarkets make a profit is due turn over as everyone has to eat.  I don't know many business that make 1-4% profit margin.

So, just put a table outside with a few boxes on it? Really? Ever tried carrying a box one-handed because you need your other hand on your cane to stay upright? And what happens if it's raining or blowing a gale or snowing? How does a table and boxes help a disabled person ship in a week's or a fortnight's worth or shopping in those conditions?

Neither of you - like many other people on this forum - has given a thought to people less able-bodied than yourselves. Not to worry though, because you'll be in the same condition one day; it's nature's guarantee. So when you're old and frail and can't even grip a cuppa, just remember your ignorant comments here, and don't turn your new-found disabilities into a massive drama. ;-)
I can't be bother to engage with someone who has no idea what someone like me does or doesn't do.  Maybe some of us are carers for disabled people so know very well the limitations for some. But the person they care for and their carer (me)choose not make a song and dance about things and find solutions that work for them!!!!

You can be ill mannered if you choose but  it doesn't make your point any more valid. I still can't see why putting your own bags on the doorstep for filling is any different to having the store's carrier bags. If someone could previously manage them (dragged in with a stick or otherwise) then they can manage bags of their own.

Sounds fine in theory, but my experience suggests a pretty dusty reaction from Tesco if I leave about a dozen single use bags outside for the delivery person to fill individually, ensuring that the heavier stuff is at the bottom of each bag.

That’s the only way older or physically challenged people could do it.

Sorry but my only experience is Sainsburys and Asda, no dusty attitude at all. I noticed that the Aldi Deliveroo is being packed in the ecofriendly bags (compostable?) but I think they only do a limited range.

So far as I know, and I’ve used both, there isn’t a problem with Asda and Sainsbury. Tesco is the problem, and despite all their usual protestations about listening to customers, they won’t budge.

How will people manage when the home deliveries go back to no bags, as per the majority of supermarkets before lockdown?
Going down the Oteley Road to see the Shrewsbury aces! :T

Probably by being able to shop normally again safely, inside shops - large numbers of people can no longer do that.
