Parking charge notice ,First letter received 28months after alleged incident

Hi, a bit of advice needed please.
My son received a parking charge notice through the post yesterday for an alleged @overstay@ at a McDonalds carpark at Gatwick back in August 2018.
The letter dated 08/12/2020 and the parking charge dated 27/08/2018. This is a whopping 28 months after the incident.
This is the first letter we have received and, by chance it is issued by Debt Recovery Plus. saying that he owes £160 as he has apparently, according to them, been sent 5 previous letters. This I know is not true as

DRP are powerless debt collectors and can be ignored. The fourth post of the NEWBIES sticky thread that asks everone to read it first explains why it is safe to ignore.

What is the name of the PPC?

The Keeper should send an SAR to the DPO of the PPC as per the advice in the NEWBIES to flush out the original PCN/NTK.

Common acronyms and abbreviations can be found in the fifth post of the NEWBIES.

according to them, been sent 5 previous letters. This I know is not true as
How do you know they haven't sent them?

Please get your son (this his case to deal with) to check what address is showing on the V5C (logbook) for the vehicle.

  • Now reading up on the forum here this £160 seems to be a typical ploy to get you to pay. I am telling my son not to pay yhis but he is obviously 'bricking it' as there are all sorts of threats about Court action, CCJ, Credit score being effected etc.  which, I have told him are scare ploys by DRP.
Can they still 'try it on ' even after 28 months ?, Would any parking charge still be valid after that length of period without having any previous contact with us ?
and advice on what the next step, if any, to take.

    Thanks in advance
(Sorry it is in two posts , I accidentally hit send button before I had finished)

    Name the PPC

The PPC has 6 years to chase an alleged debt

Check your V5C has the correct name and address on it , get it out and check it , do not assume !!

Email a SAR to the DPO at the PPC and attach a copy of the V5C as proof of I D under the GDPR law to obtain all your data including all the missing documents

Get your son to check the Registered Keeper's name and address on the vehicle's Registration Document(V5c).

Your son now needs to read the fourth post on the NEWBIES thread to understand how to deal with debt collectors letters.

Who is the parking company that is involved?

They still have 44 months left - Limitations Act - 6 years in total.

Nom - we don't care a hoot about DRP - who is the PARKING FIRM?

I reckon it's MET Parking who never sue anyone but please read the letters properly.

Have you read post #4 of the NEWBIES thread about not needing advice about DRP letters?  Forget them.
