    Au contraire.
They ARE a lot cheaper to run than an oven as the element is smaller, it doesn't require a preheat time, and cooking time is reduced. Less than half the energy use according to a recent R4 'BTSSB'.
    Most foodstuffs don't require oil.
They cook MUCH faster, crispier on the outside, moist within.
'Oven' chips come out awesome in around 12 minutes. Super texture and flavour.
I roast veg in ours on a daily basis - I have olive oil in a trigger sprayer. One mini squirt.
Sausages this eve - awesome, just the best results.

Cons: smaller capacity. And that's it.

Most foods don't require oil but it's amazing the difference a light spray makes to flavour and texture

we have two and they are used extensively, we've used our oven 3 times in the last 9 months and one of those times was to do a Turkey for Christmas dinner.

Stuff cools faster because of the size, it comes out crispier because of the air circulation and because of the basket style, if not spraying oil then some oil will drip out of food a bit like a George Forman grill but health benefits are usually compared to deep fat frying.

Had mine approx 3 months and love it. Only used my main oven once and that was for a joint that was too big for the air fryer.
Not difficult to clean, the door comes off and on easily enough.
Noted the smart meter display and it's loads cheaper than my fan oven.
Use it for baking as well. Biscuits are great cooked this way.

We bought one almost unused for £12 and now use it several times a week, uses less elect than the oven and easy to clean.

I used to use a full size oven, then I graduated to using my combination microwave on convection mode, now I just use my air fryer.

It heats up in two minutes, cooks quicker and is smaller so must cost less to run than a big oven.

    I'm a massive fan
