Economy 7 timer switch advice

This is how they do it.
The two brown cables are connected , one to the incoming mains and the second to the off-peak fuse board. The blue wire is the control signal from the auxiliary contacts in the meter to activate the contactor when the meter switches over to off-peak.
It cant really be all that difficult for the BG guy to work it out

Don't assume they will stay that way. Our previous meter went out of sync and the current one was installed back in January 2019. Nearly 2 years later, the new one has gone out of sync as well by 5 hours. It jumped another 20 minutes in the last month.hilaryfur said:Yes the time and date have been set correctly.

I followed the link Gerry1 provided, and the sales blurb says: "The 5246C is a single phase, whole current static electricity meter that measures kWh’s on a single rate up to a maximum of 100 Amps." Does 'single rate' imply that it wouldn't work for E7?Gerry1 said:The original meter is still available, and in any case BG should have a meter mountain of 5-terminal E7 meters that have been replaced by smart meters.
Also it doesn't indicate whether it is 4 or 5 terminals.

@hilaryfur Seems to be misdescribed. It's the same 5-terminal meter you had before. The 100A indicator is the clue, it wouldn't have that if it were single rate.1

I'm confused, what picture are you looking at? I see an E130?Gerry1 said:@hilaryfur Seems to be misdescribed. It's the same 5-terminal meter you had before. The 100A indicator is the clue, it wouldn't have that if it were single rate.0 -
Looking at your piccy, it does say that its a multi-rate watt hour meter. I guess its designed to work in conjunction with an external time switch to control the off-peak circuits unless its got the interface to control a contactor.hilaryfur said:

Unless you can get someone who really knows what they are doing (which TBH shouldn't be difficult as it's not anything special) there's not much you can do.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
@matelodave We'll see what happens when BG comes back with a new meter on Monday. It might just work, here's hoping. If it doesn't I'll be picking your brains again.Unless you can get someone who really knows what they are doing (which TBH shouldn't be difficult as it's not anything special) there's not much you can do.
