Commuter Club hell

Hi
On top of the fun that has been 2020 generally, I've had an utter nightmare with Commuter Club. Has anyone else found this? Any tips or comments welcome! I always bought a monthly season ticket through TFL and this year I decided to take the plunge and buy a season ticket through Commuter Club...which started in April. My office shut in March and hasn't reopened, and I was furloughed for several weeks. I have been paying £200 a month since April for a ticket that I have never used, nor will ever use, and Commuter Club seem unable to cancel it and definitely won't talk about a refund.
Their system was initially basically down for the first lockdown - messages saying they were overwhelmed with covid-related enquiries (not a surprise!). I cut them some slack initially as we were all in unchartered waters, and there was the 'feelgood' support factor kicking around earlier this year. When I coudl finally get hold of them, I was told i needed to send a picture of the torn up ticket to the rail operator to get a cancellation. Problem: I had thrown the ticket away months before (not realising I'd need to hang on to it to cancel it!). Eventually CC said I could apply for a cancellation without this. I did so. It still has not gone through.
I'm more than £1,800 out of pocket for a service I never used and will never use.
I just cannot believe there's nothing or no-one out there who can help me, and I'm sure 1000s of others int he same position. I work for an emergency response charity and just cannot afford this kind of outgoing on something I don't use.
:-(

Looking at their website it appears they fund season tickets by allowing you to take out a credit agreement and you are stuck with that until it is cancelled. How you thought you could get a refund without the ticket itself is beyond me, sorry to be blunt but if you didn't return it I doubt anyone would accept it hadn't been used as planned, as clearly, it could have been. Their website suggest 94% of refunds have been processed already, perhaps talk to whoever provides the credit to see if anything can be done but why take out a season ticket in April when we were already in the thick of it? With no proof on non-use I fear you are in a serious pickle, sorry0

Why would you bin a season ticket you were still paying for?
That's like throwing away a wad of cash and expecting reimbursement - I'm sorry, but I can't see you getting anywhere. A very steep learning curve...

So, as far as Commuter Club are concerned, you are in possession of what would appear at first glance to be a valid ticket and as such cannot be cancelled as it wasn't reported as lost or stolen.
You also effectively threw away goods that you have finance secured on. I wouldn't be surprised for the finance to be called in now as you no longer have access to the security due to your own negligence, leaving you with a balance to pay immediately.💙💛 💔0 -
