I haven’t been in touch with the bank since 2005
what can I do about this
can they throw this at me and what hope do they expect to getting this money back as I thought there is a 6 year tome limit
Any help would be welcome

If the missed payment was last month, then it will remain until Nov 2026. Their hope is that you will pay it before then.
What is your understanding of the status of the account?1 -
Thanks for reply
Well it’s my partner credit
so it’s not the length of time since the debt which was 2005
they have obviously found her and thrown the bill on her credit rating
she’s not sure weather to contact
as it’s passed the 6 year barrier but if they throw non payments every month
it will effect her credit scoring
really not sure whst to do
can they physically chase the money and can they send debt collectors to the house on a bill from 15 years ago0 -
Jaja- the process of transfer from PO has been a nightmare. Their text verification system fell over two weekends ago at the same time I received a new card. Have phoned ‘customer service’ four times and they are unable to do anything until they call me. No commitment to when as they are ‘very busy’. I cannot use my card, talk about my account or achieve anything. I am off....0

If the missed payment date is incorrect, you need to challenge that and have it backdated to the appropriate time.0

Nothing stops them from sending letters about the money owed. And it can still be paid back.Life in the slow lane1 -
Google '6 year debt' or similar you will find lots of info, for example:
Check if you have to pay a debt - Citizens Advice
Statute Barred Debt & Debt Recovery. StepChange
If you do decide to contact the card company, make sure you call them and not write or email.

if I decide to fight this with a view not to pay
do I ring them and ask them why are they proceeding with this0 -

well obviously it’s miss quoted as
15 years ago is not last month
but What are they trying to achieve do you think by stating last month
do you think it’s best to ring them and say (what ??)
im really not sure
again thanks for advice0 -
Your wording is a bit unclear
As I understand on the credit file it now lists
A credit card opened 15 years ago that was closed at left in debt over 6 years ago? Hence it should have defaulted by now & not be on the credit report?
And they have suddenly reported a missed payment for last month..1 -
Yes pretty much that though my wording is never the best
the debt showed up on credit file
what can I do about it
thanks0
