Getting together in 2021

Lots of posts about breaking up, me included. What is a good way to meet people, a partner.
I am guessing mid Janruary will be the time when things are opening up again.
Will it be like when the housing market opened up, lots of people wanting to get together, because places have been closed?
I am thinking going to cafes and joining a friendship group on facebook would be good for me, I am 59 so different age groups will be doing different things.

There are social groups, I think there might be one called meet up (or something like that).ElephantBoy57 said:Lots of posts about breaking up, me included. Where groups of like minded/aged people socialise together.

Join various groups for whatever your hobbies and interests are, make friends and see if anything develops.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

By mid January we will only just be starting to come down the other side of the peak created by the Christmas relaxation of the rules.6 -
Hopefully most of the vulnerable people will have been vaccinated, so deaths will be greatly reduced.Aranyani said:By mid January we will only just be starting to come down the other side of the peak created by the Christmas relaxation of the rules.

I don't think it's enough to just bring down the death rate. I know several people - otherwise in good health - who have been completely floored by this, and are finding that 'long Covid' is a very real thing.ElephantBoy57 said:

If you enjoy walking, that is an activity which has been able to continue even in Tier 3. It's a great way of getting to know people - even better when it's rounded off with a pub lunch, but hey ho - in a non-pressured situation.Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
That’s not realistic I’m afraid.ElephantBoy57 said:

They will go bust. Most of the vulnerable should have been vaccinated by Janruary, anyone that is in a risk group can avoid those places.

It's predicted to take until Easter to vaccinate most of the vulnerable there is still a risk to the non vulnerable. I think late summer is earliest possible normality with still some precautions.ElephantBoy57 said:Aranyani said:Don’t get your hopes up, I’m not expecting anything like a normal social life until at least mud to late summer at the earliest, more likely spring 2022 than spring 2021It will take a few weeks for the vaccine to take effect, so maybe I am being a little optimistic, but pubs/cafes cannot wait that long. I suggest you find groups , maybe on line that cover your hobbies and interests, meet /chat online and make friends that way. I met my hubby on-line when discussing walking and love of the countryside, we had both decided not to meet anyone on-line but found we had a lot in common, that was 20 years ago , still happy

don't know what will happen with covid and the vaccine. it may be summer next year before we see real change to the restrictions.
meeting new people is not easy, but i would say join hobby clubs, social clubs and online dating. online dating can be fun if you don't take it too seriously and take everything with a pinch of salt.
good luck.0 -

2020 has been a year of everything possible being done online so now more than ever i would say online dating sites are one of the main ways to meet a partner. There are plenty of free sites and i know people of all ages who have been successful doing this so it's not limited to a certain age range as it once may have been.
But it doesn't just have to be dating there are so many ways to meet and talk to like minded people online it just comes down to what your personal interests are.0
