So I am looking to buy a hour in the coming months and looked at my credit file to ensure it’s all in order. There is a ccj on there from 2017 that I knew nothing about, I rang the court dealing with it and turns out it was from a parking ticket. I had moved address around that time and everything in relation to this ticket and then ccj was sent to this address. I am happy to pay for the ticket but as I was not aware of it or the ccj I did not have the opportunity to pay it within 30 days (or how ever long it is) to avoid it going on my credit file. Is there anything I can do now or do I have to wait another 2-3 years for it to come off?

You apply to the court for a "set aside". This has a fee of £225. If the set aside is granted, it will be removed from your credit report (provided the court doesn't make mistakes when they update records.)

Would this application require evidence? And what type of evidence do you think would be sufficient to prove that I moved address over three years ago
  • this is very common with parking cos , do not contact THEM yet , there are 2 types of setasides , normal at £255 and with concent at £100

goto the motoring/parking ticket forum and read the "stickie" thread , all is explained , other people on this thread have only given you half info , please go to the other forum and read and ask there

  • You MUST act timely

whyndid you not get the court claim form? What address did it go to?
ring the ccbc and find out all the info you can - data of claim, claimant, particulars of claim, and address they used. Then work, out why you missed at least two pieces of court mail.

Many many set asides on here. But until you tell us more, giving you more tailored info is impossible.

    Thanks for your responses!

the date of the parking ticket was in April 2017 and the date of the ccj on my credit file is August 2017. I think I moved around June 2017 and I’ve requested some information from dvla to see exactly when I had reported the move to them. The car I had at the time I sold years ago and have no idea when that was. I have got information from the court about dates and what address they sent letter to and it was the old address that I moved from in June 2017. They also gave me details of the solicitors that are dealing with it and told me to contact them to pay? I have had a look at the n244 but I’m worried that I’ll miss something and it get rejected. I don’t mind paying the fine I just want this removed from my credit file as I’m looking a buy a house soon. Any advise would be appreciated, I have been looking though the newbie threads but it’s so much info to take in!
