Might be classed as unrelated but why don't all banking apps include a paying in cheques feature? It seems like an actual useful feature that would benefit customers.0

Useful but becoming less so as cheque usage continues to decline, so some banks choose to concentrate their resources on features that provide a better return on investment.Lightning360 said:Might be classed as unrelated but why don't all banking apps include a paying in cheques feature? Well there you go. I switch banks for better service and ethical banking - the incentives play no part in my decision to switch. Given your circumstances it makes no sense to switch to a bank which makes life more difficult. The incentive is soon spent, then you are left with a less useful account.24Tweezers said:being addicted to switching Banks for the cash incentives, I switched elsewhere.0 -

No one here would suggest you keep switching your one and only bank account.
You keep the bank you're happy with (your main account if you like) and switch others around that are in essence, secondary to your main banking.

For what purpose? You need one main account and another in case you have a problem with the first. Once you have your two accounts why would you 'switch others around'?kaMelo said:No one here would suggest you keep switching your one and only bank account.

After I switched from Barclays (who do have a branch locally) to Nationwide I realised when I get the rare cheque I had to make the trek into the nearest town. So I opened a basic account with Lloyds (who also have a local branch) just for cheque cashing. Now Lloyds have mobile cheque deposit I don't even have to leave the house.0

You take the free cash offered from the secondary accounts and, as ethics are clearly important to you, you take that money from unethical banks and use it for more ethical purposes.gsmh said:

All whilst leaving the bank account(s), whose service and ethics you are happy with, alone to carry out your day to day banking.

You are still opening an account with a provider you might not have considered, just because of the incentive. I would rather look at what service the bank offers and whether it would suit my purposes. Yes, ethics are important to me and clearly much less important to several high-profile members on here. I get that. I suppose I have a different mindset than many. I am not at all motivated by freebies as that usually means you are allowing yourself to be manipulated by the large company. If I decided to open an account to use as my main account and there happened to be an incentive offered, so be it.kaMelo said:You take the free cash offered from the secondary accounts and, as ethics are clearly important to you, you take that money from unethical banks and use it for more ethical purposes.

It's nice to be concerned but I'm confident I'm not being manipulated by the large company, I can't guarantee that they aren't being manipulated by me though.4
