Probably worth making a minimum contribution into the iWeb general account to ensure they don't close it as inactive for a few months.
I take it that's the Share Dealing account then?

I don't think you can open an account unless it's a S&S ISA, Share Dealing or SIPP account.

Yup sorry different platforms have different names for their unwrapped account.

    No need to apologise.

I'm surprised you remember all the info you know!

    Thank you.

I opened a share dealing account with iweb recently to avoid the account fee increase . They haven't said anything about a minimum balance and I was going to wait until next Spring to open an ISA a/c before I add any funds. Do you think I should add funds now and if I do will I be able to simply transfer them to the ISA a/c later when I am ready to open it ?

I just skim read the iWeb terms and couldn't see anything that would cause them to close the account if unused for 4 months but to be safe it's easy enough to pay a tiny amount into their share dealing account which you can withdraw again later after the ISA account is open.

My share dealing account has sat empty a years at a time between uses. I don't think there is any danger of them closing that.

Mine has never been used either but I don't think the iWeb systems can cope with a S&S ISA customer without a share dealing account. Still for a customer who doesn't have a S&S ISA who knows?

Fair point. Although if you've paid £25 for that account, it would be a bit rude!
