I take it that's the Share Dealing account then?Alexland said:Probably worth making a minimum contribution into the iWeb general account to ensure they don't close it as inactive for a few months.
I don't think you can open an account unless it's a S&S ISA, Share Dealing or SIPP account.0 -

I opened a share dealing account with iweb recently to avoid the account fee increase . They haven't said anything about a minimum balance and I was going to wait until next Spring to open an ISA a/c before I add any funds. Do you think I should add funds now and if I do will I be able to simply transfer them to the ISA a/c later when I am ready to open it ?Alexland said:Probably worth making a minimum contribution into the iWeb general account to ensure they don't close it as inactive for a few months.

I just skim read the iWeb terms and couldn't see anything that would cause them to close the account if unused for 4 months but to be safe it's easy enough to pay a tiny amount into their share dealing account which you can withdraw again later after the ISA account is open.1

My share dealing account has sat empty a years at a time between uses. I don't think there is any danger of them closing that.notavailable said:

Mine has never been used either but I don't think the iWeb systems can cope with a S&S ISA customer without a share dealing account. Still for a customer who doesn't have a S&S ISA who knows?0

Fair point. Although if you've paid £25 for that account, it would be a bit rude!Alexland said:Mine has never been used either but I don't think the iWeb systems can cope with a S&S ISA customer without a share dealing account. Still for a customer who doesn't have a S&S ISA who knows?
