in Credit cards
Hi all,
Recently applied for a Sainsburys credit card for the purpose of doing an 18 month balance transfer at 0%. However, turns out they don't accept my credit card (standard issue rewards CC from HSBC).
Therefore I need to go hunting again for another decent deal, is there a way of checking if a lender/provider accepts my card before I apply?
My only other option is transfering over to a Capital 1 CC i have but with the fee its like throwing £50 in the bin.
Thanks for you help

Who told you this? Did you speak to someone or did you try the balance transfer online?0

I can't find any connection between Sainsburys bank and HSBC either in ownership or agency banking.
Try the transfer online to see if you get a different result.0 -
HSBC run the card and finance loans for Sainsbury's.0

Are you trying to transfer more than the limit they have imposed - allowing for any transfer fee?

I’ve just had the exact same issue. Tried to transfer a small amount from a HSBC CC to my new Saainsbury CC and it was declined. When I rang Sainsbury’s they said they dont Accept transfers from HSBC. Chap on the phone didn’t know why.
Would have been nice to have been told that during the application process as it could have saved them and me some bother.
All very off as I can’t find any link between the two...,0 -
Sainsburys are awkward about which cards they accept for balance transfers generally, they refused to accept a balance transfer from my Vanquis (who have no connection to either Sainsburys or HSBC) card a couple of years ago.0

The only answer would be for the OP to open a formal complaint. He still might not get his balance transfer but would get a reason for the failure to accept the transfer.0
