Sadly it was cancer, but having witnessed my nan go through end of life care, literally !!!!!! everywhere which is why I presume there’s no bath and a walk in shower, I’d rather replace the lot as I have the funds to do so.GDB2222 said:
You reckon the bathroom killed them?Angela_D_3 said:

No it’s the other way around the living rooms open on the garden. So that’s a done deal then. South facing it is at £5k extraProDave said:It's more than which way the garden faces. In an ideal world I would have a south facing garden with all the living rooms facing the garden. But if you are looking at a house with the living room at the front and a kitchen at the back and not much prospect of swapping them around, then the north facing garden would ensure the front living room is sunny.1 -
Fingers crossed for youAngela_D_3 said:

I'm a FTB and still working out how to play the game. I was just curious about how you know what offer was accepted before? Did you just outright ask the EA? I'm viewing a house in a couple of days where the planned sale fell through after several months - it would be really helpful to know what the offer was that was accepted, but wasn't sure if I could just ask. Obviously, the EAs could fib to me to try and get a bigger offer out of me, so I'd only offer what I was happy to spend anyway. However, I'd still really like to know what was accepted before!Angela_D_3 said:
Almost, I can copy the advantages of A into B at a later date if that makes sense ?UnderOffer said:B - as you seem to not be too fussed about gardening, something smaller and eventually landscaped sounds like it will suit you better. Is the layout of houses identical?
The next question I guess is what to offer, I know B had accepted an offer of £228,000 but that fell through.1 -
I just asked, not sure if they were meant to tell me, probably not but they usually do.1

Thank you. I reckon it can't hurt to ask, right?0

Most likely they won't tell you but if you make an offer that is too low they will give you a clear indication of what is acceptable. Depends on area but the market over the past 6 months has been bouyant so any offer is unlikely to have been less than 95% of asking. An offer of 5% less may well be turned down but generally not considered too rude.Hebblethwaite said:Thank you. I reckon it can't hurt to ask, right?
Again ask why it fell through although you will probably get a vague answer and to be fair buyers often don't tell agents the real reason. If it fell through after several months likely to have been a survey issue or downvalued so don't go in at asking.1 -
They probably lied.Angela_D_3 said:I just asked, not sure if they were meant to tell me, probably not but they usually do.

That there was a major issue from the survey is definitely my worry. The EA has said that it is due to the original buyers' circumstances and them having problems proceeding. Certainly seems plausible with lots of people losing jobs right now, or having concerns over future job security. Of course, that also doesn't make it true! Equally, there could have been something on the survey that wouldn't spook me (although a FTB, I think I'm fairly realistic about buying an older property) but might other people. Still, I'd hate to pay for a full survey only for something deal-breaking to come to light so I am going to be looking very carefully for signs of any issues before I consider making an offer. 5% under asking would seem like a reasonable opening offer, but I still have a bit more research to do. Of course, it might yet be awful in person - I'm no stranger to highly misleading Rightmove adverts!Scotbot said:
