Welcome to all our newcomers. We won't be starting this challenge until the current one ends so please take some time browsing all the links on page 1 to see how the challenge flows. We tend to adapt to suit whatever life throws at us and 2020 has certainly thrown everything it possibly could at all of us. Strength in numbers - we get right back to basics, sharing and caring, making do and mending and taking care of the pennies. Feel free to join us in the 2020 challenge for the last couple of weeks of the current year.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I'm in too, I've got a plan in place to tackle debts that have built up due to various past disasters. We are putting to the finishing touches to raised beds for growing our own veg, seeds are purchased. Now it's time to stop wasting money and see how much more we can save. I'll enjoy reading the past challenge and putting together a plan to be much less wasteful in 2021.6

Is everyone doing an annual or monthly budget? I’ve always done monthly but I think I’m going to do annual with a breakdown to monthly and weekly averages as well.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

I'd like to join as well please. I'm a widow and I don't have a mortgage thanks to the late Mr Cranky's life insurance. What I do have is a 16 year old son and his 11 year old grumpy cat. I have some credit card debt and the remains of a loan as I took a 10 year break from work when I was widowed. That may sound extreme but my son has sensory issues, his dad died just as my son started school and trying to find holiday childcare was a nightmare. I downsized our house to minimise running costs and then hoped for the best. I'm working again now but only part time as the boy has health issues and this way I can take him to school and fetch him home again - walking hurts him a lot.
I have a widow's pension from the late Mr C's employer and my son has an allowance from them until he finishes education. I also receive widowed parents allowance until his education is done. That and a much smaller house is how we managed to survive without work but also without having to claim universal credit although I have acquired some debt. I'd like to be rid of that before the boy finishes school so I'd like the money that I do have at my disposal to be put to better use.
I'm looking forward to this challenge making me think that bit harder about what I spend and why. I can cook but I'm not as enthusiastic as I used to be - I also need to cut down on the amount of food we keep in the house I think although it was good not to have to panic when we first went into lockdown. I didn't go food shopping for the first 4 weeks.....20 -
Please could you count me in again. I'm more of a lurker and like to get inspiration. I have joined previously but really need to be more frugal than I have been as I start off going well then seem to fall off the wagon!8
