Marghirl said:My heart goes out to you Elli. I have a 12 year old rescue lurcher and I don’t know what I would have done without him since my dad died in May. He has been a life saver. I know despite the heartache when he goes I will rescue another dog
I think Tiggy is 13ish. Had her 11 years. Just having her by my side is a life/sanity/breaking heart saver. She is so easy to love.

Ah lovely to hear so many pets being super loved and our homes being better for them too. Thanks for sharing.
I'm currently tucked up in bed with my trusty hot water bottle and browsing recipe ideas. It's gentle tlc for my poor self.
Anyone know if you can make a batch of Porridge, keep in the fridge and reheat in the microwave? I'm just thinking for in the office days. Anyone tried?6 -
Ellie79 - sorry to hear about your doggy, I have had two who both lived to a great age and loved them and was lost when their time had come, they are our fur children.
Had a very frugal day as I haven't done anything other than a bit of cleaning, walking dds pup, so money spent and as lazy day had.

Anyone tried?Yes to porridge, but store it in individual portions in take away boxes - microwave those as is then use as a bowl and straight into rinse to stop sticking. I do 4 days worth (but it’s keeping for 3 as I eat one straight away) you’ll probably want to add a little more milk once hot.Life happens, live it well.9 -
I make my bowl of porridge from scratch in the microwave at the office every day. Only takes a couple of minutes.8

im experimenting this week to see if l can grow salads on my windowsills over the winter. l read weeks ago that if you take some of the hardy salads and herbs into a greenhouse they will survive over the winter to be able to pick a few leaves off each to make a salad. Its been working and iv been able to pick them every few days for our garden salad +saving me money buying a bag of mixed salad each week from supermarket. So l thought l wonder if it would work if l did the same but on my window sills. My 2 kitchen windowsills holds 10 x 7" pots so im just waiting for some bags of potting soil to arrive today then ll pot up some pakchoi, swiss chard, winter lettuce, baby carrots, parsley, mint , lemon balm, chives, basil and oregano. Seeds wont work but the transplants should. If it works it will save me going out into the cold/frost to the greenhouse at top of garden for the nk few months. ll let you know if my experiment works .14

Ellie79 so sorry to hear about your dog Zorro. They give us so much over the years. I love mine dearly, but non-dog owners rarely understand how difficult their loss is.
summertime_2 as well as the transplants try putting carrot tops (for the green leaves), lettuce bottoms, celery bottoms, and any type of onion roots on a saucer of water - they usually re-sprout and give a little more before they fail completely. NEVER try to re-sprout parsnip though, as the leaves would make you ill as well as often giving a nasty contact rash.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£2408
