DS was back to school this morning after his 10 day isolation period so that was good for him. Hubby is a week into his new job, time will tell how its going to turn out. We are not getting good vibes at the moment so really trying to save every penny we can incase things go pear shaped.
We are aiming for christmas to be a cheap affair this year. We don't really need anything so seems pointless to buy things for the sake off. I always like to have a new diary for the year ahead. I found one on amazon I liked. I had enough points of my storeward account for an amazon voucher so used that and only had to pay 99p. I have enough swagbucks points to get £35 of vouchers for tesco so I am going to use that to get bits for christmas dinner like the turkey and christmas pudding so hopefully christmas dinner will be free.
Still haven't had to put the heating on yet so thats a plus.12 -
@Mummy2cheekymonkeys Do you give yourself the new diary for christmas? That's 1 gift sorted
I do; i give myself a diary and 'the family' a kitchen calendar. The children get a fancy toothbrush (each! I'm not toooo frugal
); husband gets nice honey, I get a specialty tea (something from Twinings this year, I think).

Yes it will be my christmas present from hubby. He wants some fancy tea bags. We sometimes treat ourselves to tea from a company called brewtea. They do lovely tea bags and loose leaf tea. So our gifts to each other are sorted this year. I've really scaled back on who we buy for now as it just gets silly if not.
If anyone is interested you can get a free pumpkin up to £2 value from topcashback if you snap your receipt. Normally the ones for that price can do a fair amount of meals.9 -

I called sky yesterday and saved £32 on my bill ~ this was partly because I have been paying for app access to media like Disney+ & Netflix that were included in my Sky package and I never had a clue! Such a worth while call to make ☺️…have a great day everyone12

I didn't have time to light the woodburner/oven today so I had to do the cooking and boil the kettle on the electric hob and cooker, also the heating will have come on at some stage as it is automatic temperature controlled. It will be interesting to see just how much extra electric and oil I will have used in the last 24hrs.

Hi all, not been able to comment for a while. We're still waiting for our energy supply to be transferred to the new company, so can't check my usage as I don't have an account with them yet. We're being careful about what we use. Having to use the tumble drier though due to all the rain in the northwest this week. Hopefully tomorrow, Friday and Saturday will be dry so I can do the rest of the washing and dry in outside.
Still got plenty of food in and managing to do most of my shopping at the community grocery so that's helping to keep the food bills down.
I ordered some battery powered tea lights to pop in the boys bedroom and landing instead of night lights but unfortunately they didn't last very long so won't be a long term solution.Grocery Challenge 2024
