Morning Fruggies, Cold as whatsit here but no snow - boohoo !! Spending the morning breaking ice in the various animal troughs, at least the mud is easier to handle !
I love cash but at the mo needed things from online which messes up the system. Made the mistake last night of letting Son pop to Morries.... He's not v. frugal bless him, he'll learn ! I'm determined to eat what we've got, Brussel Sprout coleslaw is lovely ! Ran out of onions so we're using our Shallots, fiddly but saves buying any. Carrots and parsnips have started re-growing , nuisance but last year was a first for growing those so experimented with leaving them in the ground.
Great news with Planning Application Frugaldom, fingers crossed for you.
Yep the pig pen was a satisfying job, after I'd got over the shock of the cost of materials - I'm normally one for using salvaged stuff but pigs need a little more than my usual stick and baler twine creations !!
Have a good day everyone, may the only thing that freezes be the catches on your purses. xx

Brrrr it's so cold, do wish it would warm up a little. Cat is 12 years old today so I'm indulging him a bit - he's been asleep on my lap most of the morning but he is a really good frugal furry lap warmer, no hot water bottle needed.
This week is going really quickly but I haven't achieved much. No point in beating myself up about it, I don't normally take a week off in February!. My annual leave year runs from 1 April - 31 March so it's use it or lose it time. Still got another week to come in March, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been hanging on hoping that all the Covid restrictions/lockdowns might end!.
Really pleased with my budget for February so far (now that I've sorted out the extra 0/decimal point), expecting to come in well under but just need to keep away from grocery shopping which is my biggest downfall/spend. Any surplus will be used for buying YS meat for next month.

I'd like to join you all please - I think I may have been part of this group a few years ago. Hubbie and I are now retired, so trying to live on a budget, and stretching the pennies in order to be able to do more of what we enjoy, ie travel, when that becomes possible again.
I think I have read through the whole of this year's thread now, and you are all really inspiring! I21 -
My budget this month has definitely been blown so just trying to not let it get too bad and then I'll start again in March, when I'll be sticking very firmly to a £100 grocery budget and staying away from the wine, snacks and takeaways...:(
Doing the weekly shop tomorrow and getting back to some healthier meals so I'll be doing my meal plan later this evening and getting some batch cooking done.
I love hearing about everyone's self sustainability and growing plans...it's not for me though, well not at the moment...I'd just be happy to get on top of the grocery budget!13 -

I've been gone for a few weeks because my laptop died! Had to order a replacement as I use it for work and there was a 3 week delivery delay. Still on frugal track - have spent £47.67 in February so far on groceries, £25 on petrol which should do me for a couple of months, and we're putting £20 of gas and £10 of electricity in the prepay meters each week, even though we don't spend quite that much. It means that after winter we can go through summer without topping up the gas. Have spent my spare time this week making OH a handmade Valentine's card from my endless craft supplies and doing a digital declutter now I have a new laptop - backing up photos online and deleting things I no longer need from my external hard drive. Apart from that I've been busy sanding my stair spindles so I can fill and paint them, at this rate it'll be Christmas before I'm finished! Luckily I bought all the supplies last year after the first lockdown finished to give me a winter project."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux15

Made two cowls so far ties week, one for me, one for a present. Youngest son has requested one now & eldest (18) has requested a hand knitted jumper!!
😮 as it is half term, I have a long weekend off. To make the most of this (now I don't have my part time weekend job) I am finally getting round to making new covers for my settee cushions, using a pair of curtains bought from a chazzer last year. Planning to make one per day. Pleased with the first one made today 😊
Hubby surprised me yesterday. We'd been speaking about buying a snow shovel, I bought the last shovel in the shop, which was a grain shovel £36. He decided that was too dear, said I'm to return it, & he has fastened two bits of wood together to do the same job. Great he's getting on board with being frugal!Use it up, wear it out

I've done my February Day of Reckoning, paid ccs and moved money into separate savings accounts, and the account to pay the big bills from as they come in. I bought Premium Bonds with the council tax saving.... I may not be lucky, but it will be like a sealed pot of money that I can't spend.
The wind has been icy here but only a light dusting of snow so far. I hope everyone is able to stay safe and warm
