Euro Carparks overstay fine

So I parked at a carpark in Manchester city centre to have dental work done.  I paid for the hour, had my dental work done, got back into the car and merrily drove away.   I have now received a parking fine in the post.  Or more importantly the owner of the car has who is livid with me and is just telling me to pay it.
My ticket expired at 11.46 and it says I left the car park at 12.04.  (very grainy dark image of my number plate and their time typed underneath it)  I am certain I wasn't that late to leave the car park but appreciate it's my clock against theirs.

Do I have a leg to stand on?  Its about an hours drive from my home to be able yo go and check the signage to find out the grace period.  The letter says they are a member of BPA.  I've read the FAQs but I think I really need it spoon feeding to me as 2 tiny children harassing me whilst trying to read and understand.

Thoughts much appreciated, Thanks

  • *Side note*  It says they can go after the registered keeper if they don't name the drive, which is another reason why the registered keeper is keen for me to just pay it rather than argue it
  • Thanks so much to you both.

In terms of BPA grace periods technically the minimum recommended grace periods of 10 before and 10 after would give a total of 20 minutes outside of the paid time.  Even going off the letters timings would suggest an unpaid amount of 18 minutes.
I will give the newbies thread a re read, but I'm thinking Keeper appeal but asking for evidence of signage and grace periods and landowner anyway? I dont think the landowner is the actual dentist though it would have been a lot easier if it was
  • When was the alleged breach of contract? (The grace period definition in the BPA CoP has changed  - I believe - between different revisions of the CoP).

    It doesn't work like that.

    Which parking company (second request)?

  • Ahh Ok.  It was Euro Car Parks.  No idea who owns the land.
Alleged breech of contract was 9/11.  Notice to Keeper was issued within 14 days.

The 2020 edition of the BPA CoP clause 13 tells you the grace periods , which are not what was said above !!

ECP tend to comply with POFA and the BPA CoP , leaving poor signage and no landowner authority as possible winning points , but they may be compliant there too

It's your choice but every option has been explained earlier , personally I do not believe any appeal will be successful
